Default Lets talk wheel speed sensors

Since I have the entire car apart it is time to fix everything I dislike about it if i am going to keep it. (someone please buy this before i spend thousands more only to buy a c6 z anyways)

I am having a issue finding a wheel speed sensor that will work with the amount of teeth in a abs hub.

Example the GT101 sensor that motec pushes requires a 10mm spacing minimum between each tooth using a poverty clear scale id guess the tooth spacing on the miata is around 4MM.

Another option would be to use oem mazda abs sensor..but i am unsure if they would work well enough ect?

Are you willing to lose abs? I hear that if you use ABS sensor you will need to lose ABS because the sensor cannot be shared.

If you are removing abs you can file off teeth to make it have an appropriate number of sensors allegedly. Another method that I'm looking into is reading wheel studs.

are you doing this for speed input and or to enable traction control?

Car does not have ABS currently i was just going to add abs hubs to make use of the teeth but then ran into the tooth spacing issue a couple months ago and then just kind of let the idea sit till i had time.

It will be to enable traction control as i do not think a 235 radial will provide enough traction and i like the idea of a little bandaid should i ever need it.

My understanding is that it will work.

What will work tapping into a oem sensor? I just worry that the oem sensor will not end up providing enough resolution or something and will cause issues. Was hopping to find a aftermarket sensor that would work with the smaller spacing of the oem hub.

I am also unable to find a pinout of the oem sensor vs an aftermarket one which will be a bit more simple of power/ground/signal is xx color wire

Give more details. What is reading the WSS signal? Stock Toyota 2JZ ECU? Standalone? Megasquirt?

There's 2 kinds of resolution involved with this. Signal resolution, and tooth count resolution. There's no changing the tooth count with an ABS hub, with the exception of grinding teeth off. This is counterproductive to resolution for traction control at low speeds.

Signal resolution will depend on what is reading the sensor. The Miata WSS is a VR sensor, so a 2 wire sensor that is a sine wave between + and - 1ish volt. If your computer can only take a 0-5V digital pulse, than you can get a signal conditioner, such as the JBperf dual VR board.
