Default 1996 6spd swap trouble, no spark

Hello everybody, if you couldn't tell by the title, I am STUCK. I did a 6 speed swap today, using new flywheel and clutch. Everything went fine, took the 5er out, inspected everything, looked good. Put the new flywheel on followed by the clutch and pressure plate, making sure to use the alignment tool. Then came to the "connector swap" part which i haven't seemed to find a conclusive explainaition on what exactly to swap, but I made do, snipping the old wires off the 5er and splicing them onto the 6ers sensors. Put it in get everything buttoned up, put the key in AND.... crank but no start. Swapped the connecting wires, nothing. Swapped the connectors themselves again instead from one sensor on the 6er to the other, no start. Pull the plugs, no spark at all. The only other thing electric related that i did was disconnect my battery and the ground that connects to the PPF. Could my coil pack have suddenly gone bad? i just don't know why all of the sudden it won't start when all of the reading i did said it was a straight swap from a 1999+ into a 1996, just switch the connector wires..

None of what you touched is related to the coils at all. You pinched a wire or have incredibly bad luck.

Are there any wires relating to the coils anywhere near the top bellhousing bolts? My car should be able to start even with the 2 sensors on the trans unplugged, correct? Upon inspection of my coil pack it was found not bolted down and just sitting in place, but would it really just stop working like that? I don't think i jostled it around too much while doing the swap.
EDIT: also, how do I go about swapping the connectors, what goes to what? I originally had the 5er spade connectors attached to the 6er's passenger side sensor, and the 5er's push-pin type connectors attached to the driver side sensor on the 6er. I switched the spades to the driver side sensor and the push-pin type to the passenger side sensor before finally giving up and going home for the night

coming from 5spd. only had to take off 1 ground to do the swap.

So after spending 2 days searching, I've found that I get 13.7v at the start of the blue wire going from the ignition switch to the driver's side fuse box into a 15a fuse, coincidentally I get .5v where it plugs to the fuse box. I also get 16ohms of resistance. I jumped the blue wire directly from the ign. switch directly to where it plugs into the back of the fuse panel, I get cluster lights, try turning it over and it starts up. Smiles all around. Thinking We'd found the problem, make a quick splice and eliminate the blue wire. Try starting again, no dice.

This is going to sound stupid, but have you tried to start the car in neutral? I had a loose ground one time and the car would run great in neutral but die anytime I put it in gear.

I posted this when I swapped in my 6 speed: https://www.miataturbo.net/suspensio...81/#post942472

I'm not sure that's going to help, but it's something at least. Good luck with it, and let us know what you find.

So i was finally able to drive the car home today. Found a kill switch installed by the previous owner. That was only part of the problem though. The wires connecting it to the ignition switch fused together. Also found many other cut wires. So i ended up splicing around it and splicing back to the old wire effectively eliminating the kill switch circuit.
