Slave Cylinder won't go back into bore

I recently did a clutch install of FM Stage 2 Clutch and Flywheel. After I got everything buttoned back up I can't seem to get the slave cylinder to go back into its bore so I can reinstall it. I have followed their instructions on the clutch pedal adjustment but can't seem to get it to work. It says if the slave cylinder won't go back in I need to shorten the rod on the pedal. But no matter how much I try to adjust it I can't seem to be able to retract. It stays right in place no matter how much I push on it. Any advice?

Check if it will go with the caps off clutch master ?

Clutch master cap is off the whole time. It goes back in when I open the bleed valve and squirt all of the fluid out. Think I damaged the master by over lengthening the rod? I've shortened it all the way now and I believe I still have the problem but haven't had a chance to rebleed the slave

Loosen the bleeder screw. No way you are going to push it against the fluid; it needs somewhere to go.

Then I'm very confused with the instructions provided by FM. I haven't driven the car yet, mid turbo install, why do they tell me to make sure I can push it in if I could only push it with the bleeder open? These instructions are just confusing me

Went through some clutch debugging last week. I can at least confirm for you that I'm able to push my slave rod in with finger pressure even with the cap on and can visually see the fluid level rises. Its easier with cap off though.

If your slave rod goes back in with no fluid ( or open bleed valve to alleviate pressure ), that sounds to me like master cylinder piston is too far in and is positioned pass the reservoir opening.

That's what I figured was supposed to happen. Sounds like what you are saying is my issue. Can I back it out somehow or is it pretty much blown? I've shortened the rod (counter-clockwise) as much as possible with no effect

Rebuilding the master is an easy 30 minute job. Take it off, take it apart.

It probably needs to be cleaned out anyway.
