Flyin Miata Level 1 Happy Meal
I think I am going with the FM Level 1 Happy Meal. I haven't read anything bad about it so far. I am going with the 13.5 flywheel. Any cons I have missed? I was told it would loose momentum going up long hills with the lighter flywheel but it's not as bad with the turbo. 500 miles with no Boost

I recommend buying a spare flywheel and just having the weight ring machined off. Make sure to get it balanced afterward.
My machined 1.6 flywheel is close to 13, pics and weight are on the other computer though.

I have the happymeal. Level1 with a 10.3lbs flywheel. I love it.
But like the others have said, if you have some down time, buying a stock flywheel and doing it yourself works well and saves money.

I had that clutch installed two weeks ago, I should've done it years years ago, that clutch is so much better than the Exedy that I had.
Make sure you use the Motorcraft synthetic tranny fluid. You'll thank me later!

BTW - Never believe anything ever again that is said by the dumbass that told you a lightened flywheel would cause you to lose momentum going uphill. They obviously have no clue AT ALL regarding things automotive.

Diverting this thread just a hair, it's clutch purchase time for me again, too. This time we're looking at 1.8 sizes in something that'll hold whatever Jessica can throw at it.
Right now, the FM "2" clutch is foremost in my thoughts. At $400 it's priced better than an ACT XT, and folks don't seem to be too brutally unhappy about using 'em in DD duty. As much as I'd like to splurge on the 949 twin-disc setup, costs are already getting out of control on this build, and I can probably find a better use for the extra $600. Figure I'll have my stock 1.8 flywheel turned a bit to lighten it while the whole rotating assembly is at the shop for balancing, and we'll call it a day.
Question is- who else am I overlooking? The various options from Exedy don't seem to fit in here, and I can't think of any other big names that merit consideration just at the moment.

go to http://www.prostreetonline.com/x/act...clutch-kit.asp and look at getting the disk and pp seperate for bigger savings. My act extreme was only 305 bucks from there since i got the unsprung disk with it.

The problem here is that I'm itching like crazy to continue work on Jessica when I get back home, so I was hoping to have a new pressure plate sitting there waiting for me so I can take it along to the machine shop and get the whole rotating assembly balanced while the block is being cut. Just getting the bottom end on this motor re-assembled is going to be a major emotional milestone, even if it winds up sitting on the shelf for months while I work on the head and supporting hardware.
Any negative experiences with the FM2? Any reasons a person might choose the more expensive ACT with its 307 ft/lb rating over the FM rated at 353 ft/lb?

I just installed my FM1 clutch and 13lb flywheel. It don't feel anything like my stock clutch, engauges right off the floor and there is no easing it out like stock the FM1 clutch seems to either be in or out. It will take me a little while to get use to it.
