which springs to use with KYB AGX
 

I just got some KYB AGX struts and I have H&R springs (red) and Eibach pro kit springs. Does anyone have any input on which ones I should use?

The ones that say Flyin Miata on them...

FM or Tein springs are the only springs you should use

I had the AGX/FM combo for yeas. Not a bad starter combo. My only issue was that after a year of letting the miata sit in a tent, the FM springs got a lot of surface rust and one of them actually fatigued and cracked!!!

In FM's defense I didn't even notify them and I am sure they would have stood by their product. I just took it as a chance to upgrade to XIDA's. . . Which by the way, if you have the means to spend 2k on a suspension OH MY GOD you wont regret it!!!!

Well as of right now those are my only two options. Which springs should I use until I get FM's or stop being poor and buy XIDA's? I forgot to mention that I have the FM rear tophats too. And one more thing, I test drove a turbo'd 93 yesterday with the H&R's and AGX's. I did not like the way it felt in the corners, but I thought that it might have been twitchy due to about 230whp and a big RB rear sway. Plus the AGX's were set on the stiffest setting. I think the dude who is selling it is into drifting and wants it to try to step out all the time (I didn't talk to him. Its on consignment at a small dealer).

I have KYB AGX. I first had FM springs (old version), but they had sagged too much and the car was slammed. Then I got Teins, and it's better.

Don't run the shocks on the highest settings. More like 3 or 4 in front and 2 or 3 in back.

My suggestion would be try and sell the springs you have now although I have no idea what the used market is for springs. Take that money, perhaps add a few more bucks even if you have to wait a while and get what you want.

I put on the Eibachs and now the front is slammed while the rear looks like stock height which causes the left front to rub in righthanders. I'm gonna swap out for the H&R's and see if that helps. But yeah, I'll get some FM springs when I get a chance but I just need to figure out what to do in the meantime.

If your going to autoX might I suggest picking your springs by spring rate. The manufacturers youve listed are all pretty good and the proper spring rate will keep the Miata stance nice and react how you want in the corners. So check your other springs and see if the rates vary and go from there. Or better yet find out what competitive drivers are using in the same class and try that.

I've got msm bilsteins with eibach pro and love it. I don't know why the front of your car would be slammed unless you cut the springs or something...?

you put them on backwards didnt you?

I've got KYB with ground control coils. I've heard these coils are pushing it, and are probably out of the "range" of this shock - and will probably blow them quicker than it should. other than that, they feel great - especially in the canyon. I'd still recommend them.

I've got maybe 6k on them now, AND i live down a mile long dirt road. I don't drive slowly down that road, and my cars pretty low. I'm sure they wont last too long - but we shall see..

I think once the struts blow I'll keep the coils and upgrade to some better shocks.

bilgen, springs aren't cut and, brain, I didn't take the springs off of the struts (i knew which ones were the rears by the top hats), however, if they were backwards on the previous car then they would be backwards on mine. I definitely wouldn't rule that out. I'll look up the numbers and see if they're swapped.

longer springs should go in rear. longer shocks in front.
