Subtley lowered the MSM

Picked up a set of H&R springs from a guy on here last weekend.

I like the drop and the ride quality I attained. Just thought I would share.

not bad overall, but the front seems a bit too low and rear a bit too high.
maybe its just me

civiclydumped 07-07-2010 06:41 PM

yeah, I need to take a better shot... it wasn't eaxactly a flat surface. Kinda hovering over a small drainage ditch

levnubhin 07-07-2010 06:55 PM

I think the wheels are too big. Needs 16's imo.

Nice car. I like.

Cut the springs in the front and rear. I did it and it made the car ride and look better

Smaller wheels (or do these ones a darrrrrrrrk color), bigger intercooler, and a rollbar would make it great. Car looks really good otherwise

civiclydumped 07-08-2010 06:14 PM

Thanks for the comments guys!

The wheels are stock and are too big. I am looking to pick up the 949 racing 15x9 UL's asap

And a bigger FMIC is on its way

Had those springs on my VRM and have a set ordered for my new MSM. I like them.

However, they do still keep that MSM rake, which I never was too happy about.

Rake was designed into the car for a reason. Having the car sit flat is not so hot :)

civiclydumped 07-16-2010 04:06 PM

I like the raked look myself.

Quote your source. Not being a dick, inquiring minds (mine) honestly want to know.

Now to be honest, I haven't done scientifical measurements or anything, but I haven't ever really noticed a rake on other miata. And if it is a "turbo, more power" thing, then why isn't the common advice to any new turbo install to "add a inch of height to the back to make it blah blah"

02semiata 07-19-2010 08:30 AM

There have been a few posts about rake. Beyond that if you look at any recommend alignment for a Miata they all call for at least .25 rake. When I got my FCM setup they told me to use .25 rake and my car is stock power. And for some light reading here is what 949racing says about Miata alignments.

It has to do with suspension geometry, variable loading of the rear suspension (cargo, people, fuel etc...) and weight transfer. Some have speculated a hint on aerodynamics too (I hold no opinion on this) and even that the fenders are designed differently front and rear...meaning that if you level the car according to the wheel-fender height (making them the same front and rear), you wouldn't be evenly lowering the car as a whole.

Sweet, thanks. Every search I've tried either comes back with someone hitting a rake in the road, or asking a question about their Brakes.

I'll be honest, I still don't really understand the reasoning after reading the info on 949, but at least I've read it. Maybe if someone has some crayons and could draw me a piktar it would make more sense.
