Swapping NA6 brakes for NB Sport Brakes
I'm in the process of swapping my Non-ABS NA6 to the NB2 sport brakes. Currently I've bought the calipers/brackets, and next on my list are rotors/pads/stainless lines/adjustable prop valve. However, where can I find the larger sized dust/splash shields? Is there a part number I can just google and pick them up for cheap? I've heard of people running without, but I'd prefer to go all the way.
Also, is there a more cost effective and still good kit than https://supermiata.com/Stage-1-Miata-brakes-02-05.aspx ? Eventually I'm installing a turbo onto my car, but I want to make sure I get good brakes before I do since I'm still on the stock NA6 brakes. |
Street/autox car? Or track car?
Good street/sport pads such as stoptech sport pads or hawks hps and generic autozone rotors is all you really need. Unless track car, then supermiata kit makes sense. |
Primarily street, and while I'll do the occasional autocross for fun I don't expect to ever be competitive in my class.

It's ~$100 shipped for a full brand new set. |

Or don’t use splash shields.

...Or just bend the interfering sections of the NA6 shields out of the way like I did.

Since this thread is the same subject I am interested in could somebody point me to the right place?
Figured it is better than starting a new thread. I watched a couple of YouTube video's on switching out the regular brakes for Sport but both has a few components that need to be purchased as a used items. Is there a complete list of part numbers where I could purchase all of the sport brake parts brand new to upgrade my car? If it matters my car is a 2000 with regular brakes. |

Thanks for the feedback.
My car is running 314 HP to the rear wheels so I am beginning to feel the need for an upgrade over the factory brakes. Was considering going to the 6 piston Wilwood brakes but am iffy about how much better they are than the sport brakes for the street. I did do some upgraded pads a couple of weeks back but have not driven the car hard since then. |
NA8 brakes with good pads will be just fine for the street at 300whp plus. I recommend PFC 01 or 11.
As noted, sport calipers significantly reduce pad availability and sometimes increase costs. |
