Tein coilovers

Hey guys, I have tein coil overs on the car, and I would like to change the springs. Is anyone familiar with the spring dimensions? I haven't gotten them off just yet, but I would like to get the new springs ordered. The interwebz tells me they are a 70mm (2 3/4") ID which seems really large to me, that's why I don't know if that information is correct. If that is correct, can I get away with a smaller, more available spring ID?

From all the research i did i came up with the same thing. 70mm x 175mm long. If i recall swift springs had the best replacement for the money. also fab 9 sells some

I was trying to get some eibach springs since we are a dealer lol but that doesn't look like it's going to happen. I'll probably order some swift springs and be done with it. Thanks for research as well!

70MM ID is correct.

I replaced my rear springs with Tanabe Sustec PRO210 Performance Coil Spring 70mm / 6kg / 170mm

to fix the out-of-the-box coil bind I was having. Just the same rate but taller springs. was an awesome $30 fix (were on an awesome sale at the time).

this place has them: https://www.shop.upgrademotoring.com...ec+PRO210+70mm

I got mine from here: https://www.more-japan.com/

What spring rate are you moving to?

I was going to move the stock 7kg tein springs to the rear then replace the fronts with Z70-178-120 12kg swift springs. 672/420lbs respectively. But I never followed through because im on the fence of if it is worth it or not.

To be honest I'm not sure yet, the eibach guy told me to ask other V8 Miata guys what they are running. But there aren't any other builds that are applicable to mine. Heavy cast iron, turbo, big inter cooler, and a radiator in the trunk.... So it's going to be a bit of a guessing game the first go round. I'm thinking of 550 lbs front, 350 lbs rear

I think you'd probably want to weigh your car and see how much weight you have where and then try to figure out the rates?

I'm thinking 550/350 is probably a bit soft for that monster.

^ I agree with the above being too soft.

Soft springs big sway bars. I'm not running stock swaybar mounts, so bar size is limitless really. I need as much mechanical grip as possible since I don't run all the crazy aero out there.

I scaled the car over the weekend, total without a hardtop and 5 gallons of fuel was 2327lbs without me in it.

Picture of corner weights, this was with no springs in the car to get a true reading of the corners. I'm thinking of moving the fronts to the back, then up the front to 650 or so. I have a week to make up my mind, April 7th is upon us lol

You and I are about the same weight and the only aero I have is the bfw spoiler and diy splitter I think the 12k (650) would be really good based on my searching. Try it and report back!
