Tein Monoflex are the Monies!!

First driving impression after TONS of frustration taking off old worn out motorhome suspension...

HOLY SHIT!!!!!!!! Solid shits solid!!1

Drivers front was cake, passenger front was cake until I went to pull off the lower shock bolt. The nut came right off, the bolt was seized up to the bushing in the lower shock. Beat that bolt like it owed me money for about 2 solid hours with everything I could find. I flattened the end of my air chisel on it... Ended up taking an air cutoff tool and cutting the bolt inside the tab on each side of the control arm then it finally came off.

Rear upper mount nuts were all 4 rusted and seized up, one finally broke off. Replaced all 8 with new bolts.

Still need to weld on the sway bar bracket on the drivers front and am waiting on some Heim adjustable endlinks. My endlinks are seized up on the old swaybars. Not going to install the bars until I get the endlinks in which should be later in the week.

This is one of my first MAJOR purcahses for the miata and I'm VERY pleased with the service and support offered by Gary and John @ Trackdog. Gary was on vacation this week but John was there to offer me some tips and tricks, even offered me his cell phone number in case I had any issues. Thats how you take care of customers and thats how you get people like me to spend even more money with you.

Will post pics with my wagon wheels later when I get myself all cleaned up.

I would love to get a set of teins there just to much as of now, but even when I'll have the cash i fear I'll just spend it on a lot of little things

good stuff. if its not a secret, how much did they cost after all was said and done? I have a feeling the price tag will give me a seizure.

Gary told me they're not listed on the site, I didn't see them when I looked either. Don't think it was a secret.. if it was, my bad!! lol.

Got the monos, Racing beat hollow front sway, sway brace kit, and shipping.. $2032.00.

I think it was worth it!!

WAGON WHEEL!!! They haven't rubbed yet... Need to roll fenders, still.

yeah, JohnWag is a cool dude. I have a lot of respect for TDR/Gary & John. They've been right on everything I've doubted, they're mean motherfuckers on the track, and know what they sell. I wish Gary made turbo parts.

God I so can't wait to get some seat time on a track with this thing!!!

Still have more shit to buy, though!

That looks fucking soo amazing! Fuck I really like it! lol

Are those just mazdaspeed stockers? The stance looks so badass. What kind of suspension did you have before the Tein's and did it look just as good?

elesjuan 06-15-2009 12:24 AM

Thanks, but I'm kinda over the 17s. Yeah, they're stock 2004 Mazdaspeed wheels. Had a 2004 MSM before the Mazdaspeed6 and kinda liked the way the wheels look. At least now I don't have to worry about their weight... since they weigh the same as a 6ul wheel/tire combo. ;)

Planning on getting some Nickel 6ul's soon I hope.

Before just had stock suspension. I think its OEM, my friend doesn't. Either way it was garbage and the car rode like a motorhome.

Here is Before:

I still don't think it looks lower than the car used to be, but the tape measure says different.

With those 17's you have filled fenders like it's lowered but still have near stock ground clearance. Nice for over speed bumps I'd guess. Not ideal for handling.

With 6ul's and 225/45 Hankooks I get people asking me why I don't have low profile "performance" tires!

They're the same diameter tires that came on the car from the factory. I followed John's instructions.

Measured from the fender to the hub centerline with car on the ground:

Front: 12 3/8"
Rear: 12 1/2"

Its significantly lower than stock. When initially installing the shocks I laid out the factory pieces and measured them from the top hat to the center bolt and subtracted 1.5" from each, then after installing ended up lowering it even MORE.
