Torsen swap question
Hi guys-
Just a couple quick NA torsen swap questions: 1) early 1.6 cars will need the rear, 2 axles and the driveshaft from the Torsen car to do the swap. Correct? 2) later 1.8 cars will only need the rear and possibly the axles if they are a different type (1 piece vs 2 piece). Correct? 3) this would mean there are 2 lengths of driveshaft; early and late. Correct? thanks for the info. I have a 90 miata with the stock open rear. I have a 4.10 at the shop with axles and driveshaft, and I'm picking up a 4.30 with axles only. Iwant to see if my 4.10 will still be sell-able without the driveshaft. |
Later 1.8 only need the rear. The driveshafts are interchangeable. The only driveshafts that are different are the Mazda speed ones which have a different spline count

Perfect.
Just the info I needed. Thanks. *edit* With the rear axles being interchangeable, will the stubs that go into the rear from an open rear work on the torsen, too? Or are the stubs rear-specific? |
All 94-05 non-MSM axles fit into all 1.8 non-msm diffs. Stubs, one-piece, everything. |
Thanks Savington, good info.
Props for you two. |
to be clear, the 1.8 driveshafts are interchangeable, right?
