I'm just wondering how many people on here run the 275-35-15 Hoosier A or R6. I just got a set of 15x9's and am trying to figure out which tire i should go with. I also looked at the 245 that Hoosier makes but it is almost 2" taller so I don't think that that would fit. I tried searching and couldn't find anything in between a 225 and the 275. Any suggestions?

Yes, with rolled/pulled fenders and a bunch of camber; there have been a few threads about it.

Tires that are 2" taller probably won't work well. Your options are pretty much the 275s or 225s. There are a few different r-comps available in 225/45/15 and they fit pretty well on a 9" wheel. I'd personally go with the 275s though.

Hoosier only makes the 275/35/15 in the A6 compound, not ideal for lapping days. If you are planning on racing, then I'd get Hoosiers. If you are just doing HPDEs, get some take off Toyo RA-1s or buy new T888s or Nitto NT-01s.

I do agree with Boileralum on tires. Go with an R888 or NT01 in a 225 flavor. The 15x9 stretches the 225 perfect! I've seen the NT01 on a 15x9 and just looks right.

I stand corrected. It was not available in the R6 compound as of last fall, but apparently the makers of the purple kool-aid have added the size to the lineup.

Emilio says they are at their prime for like 6 cycles. You could probably get anywhere from 4-6 days out of them before I would be afraid of cording one.

With the popularity of HPDE it would sure be nice to see Grassroots do a tire test for it. Something where ultimate grip isn't the object but heat cycles and durability are. RA-1's have a great reputation for that but there is so much new stuff out now.

RA-1s suck, but they suck consistently. The NT-01 is probably the best option, especially for us, since you don't have to shave it to get the most out of it. You can run it at full tread and go fast.

from what I have researched the NT01 and the toyo's are very similar, in-fact the NT01 is made by toyo for nitto.

RA-1 will probably last longer, but NT-01s are faster and they feel better. They are also cheaper and not discontinued.

NT01's use the RA1 carcass.
i'm curious, as well. I'm blowing through my RA1's real fast. They started off treaded, too.
I need a set of NT01's. I didn't realize the RA1 got the boot. I knew the R888 was the revision, but I thought they were still being produced.

You sure about this? The RA-1 carcass is ancient. I have heard that's one of the differences between the two. I thought the compound was the same, but Matt Andrews says that's not true.

Nt01's and R888's are the current stuff that's basically replacing the RA1 but it is still in production. I only used the RA1 as an example of a good HPDE tire due to being durable and consistent. Not necesarily the fastest. That's why I'd love to see a comparison of the new stuff with a nod to HPDE drivers. Add in the new Kumho, Goodrich, Hankook and others and there are quite a few to consider for track days. DOT rating cuts some out if that is a consideration.
