Maybe you cranky bastards who don't like "noobs" should just turn miata turbo into some kind of hand drawn punk zine only the cool non noobs can subscribe to by mail.

You don't know me! How old I am what I have built or designed or repaired or anything about my racing driving or automotive skills or experience relating to anything! You don't know the effort or experience or study I have put into learning the skills and study needed to bring me where I am.

This is the internet this is a forum for discussion which is live and continuously updated how is it bad that simple questions are repeatedly being asked? You discourage people from asking questions in new threads which will inevitably fall to the unseen old parts of the site and then when people ask questions in a relative thread already started get on them for it. I don't understand the logic of not wanting to answer a simple question and be done with it and choosing instead to spend much more time spent arguing insulting and calling names or people asking questions and clogging up threads with these responses rather than just either ignoring it and letting someone else answer it or taking the time to answer it briefly or if you know the answer off hand linking to it. How exactly does asking questions cause you any inconvenience? If you already know the answer why are you reading a thread about answers you already know?

Would you want to be treated under the assumption you are some lazy idiotic noob who isn't willing to research when asking some simple question in a subject you didn't know much about?

I am willing and wanting to learn that's why I am here asking questions.
TL;DR

u mad bro?

Where does the TII transmission fit in this? When does it break and why dont more people use this one?

Is there a 6 speed that actually gives a overdrive for low rpm highway speeds?
6 speeds ain't cheap, which is why the T5 is such an appealing option.
At this time, there isn't another good 6 speed option.
Some of us are looking at the supra trans as an option for a swap, but nobody has actually tried it yet.

Because constantly answering those simple questions lowers the quality of conversation across the entire forum. The petty name calling and insults and ****-flinging that are the hallmarks of this forum act as a substantial deterrent to people asking those simple questions that have already been answered. It allows the conversation to consistently press forward onto new ideas, instead of constantly rehashing the same old stuff that so many of the active members here already know. As a result, the signal to noise ratio on this forum is infinitely better than on your average internet forum, and the members here intend on keeping it that way.

Your question has already been answered. You were even told where that answer could be found. Assuming that we would answer it again because it's "easy" makes you seem entitled, even if that's not what you are. Sorry you had to run headlong into the MT.net gauntlet to find that out, but it's the way things are done here, and it's the way we like them done.

New ideas? That has to be a joke this place is about doing things like everyone else and if anyone comes here asking about another way everyone takes offense with this attitude that if someone questions what everyone else has done already and agreed upon it threatens their stature and pro knowledge.

"instead of constantly rehashing the same old stuff that so many of the active members here already know." You do realize that what keeps a thread at the top of the list is by having new posts right? So if something is constantly asked and ignored or even better answered by one of the pros on here in brief concise language the thread would be done and fall back into history and then found again by someone searching and then keeping the discussion away from the more expert level stuff. "You were even told where that answer could be found." Why should I need to be told where it is found? I use the search function it doesn't work. Unless I am expected to read for hours trying to find my answer in many dozens of threads and many dozens of posts. My experience is that using the search function to find answers is a massive waste of time because all the noob questions were never answered for noobs and so the search results lead one to think that the question was never answered and so I tend to ask the question in a new thread or an old one that is related and either way I get crap about it being an old question.

I linked to probably one of the most informative threads on this site. It covers all the possible options, information and what people have tried. But instead you complained? That's being lazy. Read, learn share. I read that thread, which is why I knew to pass it along to you. Why answer a question twice?

The search function on the site is terrible. Use Google to search the site. I do this all the time and it gives me 1000x better results.

Also don't use the site search.

Go to Google.com

Couldn't be farther from the truth. There are more degreed engineers, national championship winning racers, lap record holders here than all other Miat forums combined. When I want to share some new technical development with the Miataverse, I only post here. Club Roadster started a "race prep" like section in a sad effort to duplicate the fount we have here. The worlds largest and most technically accurate discussion on Miata aerodynamics is a thread I started there a few years back. Oil coolers? Andrews thread. Transmissions, Deerhunters thread, etc, etc.

The reason you come to miataturbo.net is because the answers are here and nowhere else. We merely request that you do the work "advanced search function" instead of being lazy and asking us to spoon feed you the same answer asked the previous page.

Argue all you like about the way this forum is run. I assure you, it falls on deaf ears. Man up and learn how to use advance search.

I would suggest you stop complaining and start contributing, lest ye be banned for a week to give you some time to think. We still love you

@Guy Farting

Here's the deal.

You ask "why not the T2?"

Someone would say "gear ratios suck."

then you would ask another question, like maybe "what about different T2 gear ratios? Wouldn't that be cheaper than adapting a different trans? What's it take to fit a T2 anyway?"

and eventually you'd have THE EXACT ******* THREAD AIDAN LINKED YOU TO.

With many questions, the reason you don't get a simple answer is because THE ANSWER ISN'T NECESSARILY SIMPLE. There are many factors that took several minds and multiple pages of discussion to explore, and somehow you want someone to boil it down in one convenient post for you.

Do you not realize how ridiculous and entitled that is? You were LINKED to the thread that contained not only the answer to your question, but where you could absorb the most current information regarding Miata transmission options, and you bitched about it.

GTFO.

That is exactly what you are expected to do. You are expected to do it because it's what the rest of us had to do. It's what I had to do when I became a member here a decade ago.

You don't necessarily have to do it, by the way. You can call one of the vendors here and ask them about your problem, and then purchase the solution they suggest, and they will provide you with all the info you could ever want on your problem topic. I do that for customers every day. I answer questions that people would get utterly demolished for asking in public, and I do it happily, because I'm paid to do so. The difference between me and this forum is that this forum is full of volunteers. Nobody here is getting paid to answer your question. The membership here remains here because the forum promotes new ideas. It's full of very, very intelligent people, many of whom have substantial achievements to their name, and they don't want to read the same questions over and over. They want to read new questions. If you want to see a forum where new members are coddled and encouraged to ask the same old questions, it's called Miata.net. Go see how vibrant and active their forced induction section is right now.

We do not feed you here. We teach you how to fish. If you don't want to learn to fish, this may not be the place for you.

Here's a tip: type "site:miataturbo.net" into Google, then type your desired keywords. You will get a search listing far better than anything the basic search could provide.

The "teach a man how to fish" adage repurposed and on the mark.

Could almost be a t-shirt or maybe slogan for mt.net

Uh ok. It would suck if everyone had this attitude and every time I wanted to look up a meaning of a word I couldn't use a dictionary I had to go out into the world and start writing my own.

"I do it happily, because I'm paid to do so" yes it is really easy to be kind to those that pay you. but what kind of person treats people who pay him better than he does those that give him nothing? Why does everyone have this attitude that putting a turbo on a miata is such a big serious important accomplishment that people who haven't done it before must pay their dues simply because someone else came before? This isn't nobel prize work its putting turbos on miatas! What if everyone you sought knowledge from or anyone who ever taught you anything treated you like you owed them something or made you pay in some way for the privilege of passing that knowledge down? I think it's called being entitled. Why not help others because you know how much it sucked to do it on your own?

We do ******* help. It's sad that you can't see that. Everytime I figure out something new I make a new thread about it. I can list of 3 or 4 threads in the last year that I started based on information that I figured out on my own. But I get tired of repeating answers over and over again.

If you can't find an answer then ask. Like you did. But when you receive a link to a thread full of information don't ******* complain. Now that's ******* entitled.
