Tubular control arms @ 949Racing
These are pics of the pre-production samples.
http://www.949racing.com/productimag...arms_miata.jpgRear control arms http://www.949racing.com/productimag...arms_miata.jpgFront control arms Weights are about 3lbs lighter per corner than OEM. Additional camber adjustment is done with OEM alignment eccentrics at the front lower ball joint. In the rear, the outer pivot on the upper control arm also accepts an OEM eccentric bolt. Not pictured here are the proprietary 95A (very hard) urethane bushings and OTS upper ball joint which will be included in the kits. Made in the USA for exclusively 949Racing by V8 Roadsters. Yes, they are orange powder coat. Pricing not set yet but expect them to be very reasonable. They will also be available individually for you STS2 guys. These are are intended to bridge the gap between exotic spherical bearing arms for an E production car that are already available elsewhere and the flexy and heavy OEM arms while offering the increased alignment range. We should be shipping the first kits beginning of May. Taking order in the next few weeks. Email us to be put on the mailing list. Come check them out at MRLS. |
lol, now I know why my friend emailed me offering to sell his control arms. :)
|
mmmmmmmmmmmm yummy
|
Win.
|
Those would be pretty pimp when matched up to the V8Roadsters tubular subframe (coated to match, of course). :) Once my engine rebuild is out of the way, I'll definitely look at these a bit more!
|
Emilio,
Any plans to make a drop upright to correct the stupid amounts of lateral roll center migration when lowered? I know the investment isnt justified, but you were thinking about casting a new head at some point ;-) |
I am definetly in.......as long as I can get them non-awesome red orange....... i.e. black
|
Hail to the King! ;)
|
Any way these will have zerk fittings pre installed?

Oh yeah, Spray Paint FTW baby!
|
Awesome!
Btw, I agree with the rest on the color. Black powdercoating should be much better |
Interested, mostly since the upper control arm's bushing is replaceable. Bumped mine into a curb and it's been a little squeaky ever since.
|
completely awesome. sign me up for front AND back :D
|
Estimated Price?
I'd be down for a set if I don't end up broke as hell by the end of the semester. |
im interested
|
A lot of win there Emilio.
Are you going to have NA and NB versions available? |

Any other color choices? :)
|
I dont see why people care about the color so much, if they come powdercoated who cares what color they are. Its under the car anyways.

I assumed. But the sway mounts are different NA and NB.
Hence my original question. |

Clevis mount. I suspect anybody using these arms will have adjustable end links, not the stud type OEM NB links that like to go kerpow! on the track.
I'm curious to see the cost of the package. |

Universal. Geometry is the same. NB front spindle geometry is different but the 949Racing drop spindles will be one universal version too.

The pricing listed on the website is ~$1800...
Seems a bit high... |

Seems a bit high... I think the availability of junk Chinese Honda control arms for half that clouds the issue. There is no comparison in terms of design, engineering, materials quality, finish, QC, precision or function. |
Emilio makes a good point... I got quoted at >$2000 for a full racing set of tubular control arms which also required custom fitting and mounting on top of the purchase cost. So for the money, you can't beat this IMO...
|
So think here, guys. A full poly bushing set for F/R control arms (until the Energy suspension kit came out not long ago) was what? $450+? These come with hard bushings, ball joints, eccentrics....That knocks easily $600 off the top of the price right there, as you are completely overhauling your suspension in "replacing the control arms". Awesome work, as usual Emilio. Keep it up!

hard bushings = no flex = no need for toe in on rear?

Just an FYI. Steve at V8roadsters is an engineer and a lot of thought and number crunching goes into the design of their parts. It's not just some dude in his garage with a welder. If the quality of these is on par with the k-member, they will be great.

MAN! I need to rebuild an engine and now you come out with these?
<sigh>Overtime it is... |
Production Update:
The tubular control arm sets are being made to order. When this first large production run gets here in a few weeks, they will all be spoken for. After that its 4-6 weeks to fill any order. So if you have been considering a complete or partial set, you need to get your order in soon if you want them in July. |
|
ok sticker shock got me at first but after reading abit more, seems like a hella nice product. GL emilio
