Twin plate clutch
 

Emilio just broke my heart and told me that they no longer make their twin with the organic discs. The ceramic is just too manly for me, so I need an alternative.

what are you lot using that isnt 949?

Local CSP car switch from organic to ceramic. I havent driven it yet, I drove it on the organic though. They say its actually easier to drive than the organic.

There is a tilton option though IIRC, and some option with an aluminum flywheel.

You could always gain a shitload of streetability for only a little more weight with the speedsport if 300-350ftlbs capacity is enough for you. (its rated at 300, goodwin says they run 350 through it without problem).

I bet a sexy phone call with clutchnet could get you the organics. Unless of course emilio has Oleg by the ballskis.

The local car got the last set of organic discs, and they were defective. They were made too thick so the clutch could disengage. And emilio said that there would be no more organics so he sent them the ceramics.

I know why the organics were discontinued, and thickness had nothing to do with it. If Emilio wants to publicly explain why they were discontinued, he will.

Obviously. Just pointing out that emilio didnt seem able to get another set of organics even to replace a defective set so asking clutchnet nicely probably wont get you anywhere.

When I ordered a replacement organic this spring, Emilio was not happy with the supplied one (but sent it since I was pressed for time).
It has not failed yet, after 4-5 hours service (just 3 hours in real anger).
I got a ceramic too as replacement :bigtu: for the earlier failed organic, which will go in next time I have the engine out

But getting a 184mm disc with the right splines and offset from elsewhere can't be impossible (but probably not worth the effort since Emilio have decided not to). But the discs are cheap, so testing the ceramic out won't hurt too much, testing is knowing.

Ah, shit. There goes my plan of using organic twin disks for both my Miatas.

Crossing my fingers on easier to drive though, any details on that? I mean. It's a ceramic. How could that be easier to daily?

ceramic isn't easier to daily. I have driven both organic and cerametallic twin plate clutches in a miata as a daily driver in a very long (40 miles x 2) commute in california traffic.

it's doable
avoid traffic
enjoy the ability to light up the rear tires at will at stock power levels

the thing to keep in mind is that the ceramic is way grabbier. there is a much narrower margin of modulation that makes slow and gentle takeoffs a bit more challenging.

the net result is you avoid situations where you need to take off gingerly in favor of waiting a few more seconds for room to take off faster. Or you will find yourself slipping the tires instead of the clutch.
