what to buy 949 chassis braces or RB front sway bar?

decisions decisions let me you know what you all think I should get first they'll both be acquired eventually

What are your spring rates?

Savington 03-13-2010 01:53 AM

Save the money and get something other than the godawful Tein Basics you have now.

turotufas 03-13-2010 01:58 AM

I say sway bar first. It might be more effective on your current setup.

I have the chassis braces. I felt a difference in stiffness. Only thing is it barely fits under my downpipe.

I am slowly upgrading, I started with KYB's now these, This is my project and DD. I have limited income as a student so new (expensive things) come sparingly..... but thanks for the advice?

my Dp doesn't hang low :giggle: and I really just want the rear brace I'm going to get both eventually like I said but for now I'd like so more opinions.

then there's the question of soild or tubular..

turotufas 03-13-2010 02:15 AM

Mine is the FM solid and heavy. I wish I had the RB tubular one, its thicker and lighter.

p51hellfire 03-13-2010 02:28 AM

hrmmm I was leaning that way

Chapman 03-13-2010 05:47 PM

Your car sounds like it would be an oversteery beast. Those rates are not optimal. I'd go with the tubular sway bar and remove the rear bar until you get a stiffer spring up front, or softer one in the rear.

Savington 03-13-2010 06:02 PM

Get the RB bar, but seriously, I'd rather have ANYTHING but Tein Basics.

p51hellfire 03-14-2010 01:50 AM

ok Rb bar it is, also dropping the rear bar, I'm broke and just bought the tiens so they'll stay till I can afford the big boy stuff (FCM) Thanks sav

jacob300zx 03-15-2010 12:48 AM

I'm thinking Racelands could be better than basics with the extra dough saved used for springs...

cueball1 03-15-2010 01:57 PM

RB hollow FTW. It'll make a much bigger difference than the braces.

Why the hell Tein includes 6kgf/5kgr springs on Miata shocks is beyond me. A 3/2 to 5/3 ratio front to rear is what 90% of people use. For proper balance with a 6kg front spring the rear should be 4kg. With the 5kg rear the front should be 7-8kg.

p51hellfire 03-15-2010 02:09 PM

I agree If I had the option to choose the rates like you can when you buy them new I would've gone 7k and 4k. Still I will be getting different shocks down the road, FCM. RB hollow bar has been bought thanks guys!!!

jacob300zx 03-15-2010 10:56 PM

FCM is old news, diy SD bilstein coilover is the new shizzz
