What did the PO do to my brakes?

Bought a stock NB1 base model about a year ago.

Getting around to replacing rear brakes and the 1.8 brake pads I bought didn't fit.

Here are the front brakes:

Here are the rear brakes:

Does it look to anyone else like these are the 1.8 brakes with sport rear pads? Will the replacement pads just drop in or do I need new metal clips as well?

I r confuze.

Yeah, I've seen that. But that doesn't tell me if I can use the metal clips on the pads with the correct rear pads or if I need to source new ones.

Seriously.

Clips are the correct ones, just lube em a bit for the correct pads.

im not super familiar with non sports brakes, i cant remember if there are springs for non sport...

Haha, see so there's a reason I asked. You should know better than to assume that I'm in possession of all the above :p

Lube what for the pads? You should only have to lube the caliper slide pins on Miata brakes. If your pads are not sliding on the wear clips, get new wear clips. Rear disk hardware kits are like $8 on Rockauto.

I always receive brake pads that have casting defects or paint globs where they are supposed to contact the wear clips. Always have to grind them down, and the wear clips are always bent and slightly wrong shape... I have FANTASTIC luck.

tiny dot of lube spread over the clips makes for happy pads imo
