Yokohama Advan A048 - What Size?

What size should I get?

205/50R15 or
225/50R15

I'm currently running 215/45R16 Azenis 215s so the 225 might fit!

Anyone have luck with these tires on an NB or even and NA (might pick one up for track stuff)

I'm going to mount these on some 15x6.5 Enkei Wheels I have kicking around from my old BFG Drag Radials.

I'm running Yokohama 225-50-15's on 6.5" wheels and they clear lock to lock on all 4 corners. I've heard they shouldn't clear on the front, but they do... I say go bigger on the back. 245's rear, 225 front. I'm going bigger with my next set of tires.

Anyone know if they will clear on the front of a 90-97, as I may build a track car which we can use an an NA test mule.

they clear on 99+ i'm not sure about NA's

I don't know what the fuck you are talking about. Bigger tires in the rear will cause the car to push on a track, and you can't even get a 245/45-15 let alone the proper 245/40-15 (with the exception of the Avon CR500 which you have to import yourself IIRC). A048s are shitty r-comps anyway; sell those 6.5s and get some 8 or 9" wide wheels and run 225/45-15 Nitto NT-01s all the way around.

I know they exist. Someone on this forum has them on some pretty 6UL's.

Just saying you can run a 225-50-15 on a 6.5" wheel. I've done it on two different cars. Works fine. Nothing crazy. Contact patch on the Yokohama's I have now measures 8.5" even though it's on a 6.5" wheel. I like the look personally. If I had to get tires, id get these over something smaller.

Go get yourself some different 6UL's and sell me yours. :)

Savington 09-29-2008 04:14 PM

They don't exist, I'm certain of it. The widest available R-comp is the 225/50 and they aren't even correct diameter. There is ONE 245/40, not available in the US. No 245/45s.

patsmx5 09-29-2008 05:30 PM

Meh, I was talking regular performance tires, not R comps. And I know I saw a 245-45-15 on some 9" 6 ULs. Guess you're talking R comps only?

I have tried a set of 048'S in 205-50-15 size on ATS 15 x 8 .

Driven them @ LCMT first and I have to say I have not been impressed much with this tire... Actually I have sold them right after that track event.

Get too much time to reach operating temp. and once there they are not even on par with same size RA-1s.

I would stay away from them

I would consider Toyo R-888. Way more predictable and easier to get up to temp.

those tires are so awesome you 'll be fine with 205s

..yeah. Any 225/50 R-comp is going to be stickier than any 245/45 street tire.

We could not get 225/50/15 to fit on a lowered NA at +15 offset with cut fenders and flares. 225/45/15s are supposed to fit fine. Before full lock the front of the tire would hit the front bumper support and the rear, the fender wall.

with that said, send me your 215/45/16s when you are done....
