To go to 6UL 15x8, what other items are needed? Must one also change studs and lugs, or is that optional? '99 Miata. Also, will standard valve stems work, or only the 949's?

15x8s will bolt up to any NA/NB Miata with no modifications. That means stock lugnuts and stock studs are not a problem.

The alloy lugs provide more wrench clearance (19mm vs. stock 21mm lugs) and make tire changes a bit quicker.

Any standard rubber valve stem will work. The alloy valve stems are lighter, but more importantly, they fasten more securely to the wheel (easier to check/set tire pressures) and they do not degrade with heat like a standard valve stem does.
