Thickness on Coolant Blockoff Plate?
 
I'm currently running a BEGI style coolant blockoff plate that leaves the ugly stock front waterneck as well as 2 water ports (one I use for the turbo and one for the stock oil cooler). I would love to get rid of the water neck, but I want to keep the water supplies.

From the pictures it looks like your coolant blockoff is fairly thin, is there any chance it's thick enough to tap for a NPT fitting? If not, is there any chance you guys would concider offering a thicker option, possibly one that's even pre-tapped? I'd be all over it and it seems like there might be something with a decent demand.

(I'll be happy to be a test dummy and get some pictures once it's installed if you would consider offering it)

The block plate just prevents the freeze plug from coming out - all the sealing is done by the freeze plug. We'd need to make a thicker plate that's machined for the OEM o-ring if we wanted it to seal properly, and then you would need to remove the timing belt and cam gears to get to the thing in the first place. I don't see us selling enough of them for it to make sense. Your best bet is to have the OEM neck chopped and welded up.

You can also just link the two water lines there - the OEM cooler is fed via the hose on the back of the motor and the return is at the water neck. You can just use that line to feed the turbo and then return it to the water pump inlet like you're probably doing now.

Wait, so... Back of head -> OEM oil "cooler" -> Turbo -> Water pump inlet (tap into the return from heater core maybe?) It's that easy? :eek3:

Can you run the cooler -> turbo line behind the timing belt, or is that something that can/should plumbed across the front of the engine? It would be super simple to fab up a set of aluminum lines to do this, I'm just not sure how you would secure them. I think AbeFM is running something like this actually
