13x9 on NA?

im looking at diamond racing 13x9 wheels with r888's 185 60 13
http://www.racetire.com/products/images/r888.jpg
http://i578.photobucket.com/albums/s...e/IMG_9891.jpg

i would love to run a 13x10 with a 205 60 13 but i don't think thats going to happen.
i will also be lowering my car with coilovers.
oh yeah and this is on a 1.6

i have a couple questions.
1. should the back space be 5"? thats what i read somewhere.
2. i plan to roll the fenders but will i need a pull as well?

i have been searching for about 3 days, and cant seem to find what i'm looking for. I don't plan to get into any autox or anything like that. just want to take these huge ass 17" that it came with the car off and get a bit lower. i am looking for better handling but its not like i'm going to be racing or anything like that, just a fun street car.

Oscar 06-22-2011 12:39 PM

185s on 9s or 205s on 10s? Like dick much? Also semis for a strictly street driven car?

1slowna 06-24-2011 03:30 PM

I have 185/60/13s on my 13x6.5 enkie apaches and they sit perfect no stretch, no bulge. Stretching a tire that size onto a 9" wheel is going to defeat the performance gains. If your ok with that please visit clubrodster.net, you will fit in perfectly.

I have 225/45/13's on my Panasport 13x9.5 right now and they have a tiny bit of stretch. Not really much to be honest and the look is perfect. 185 = balls

For refrence, 225/45/12 Hankook's on my Panasports.

You want the wheels an inch wider and the tires 40mm narrower? Are you high?

imput1234 06-26-2011 02:52 PM

Why such a narrow tire?

falcon 06-27-2011 12:00 AM

becuz stretch = cool!

webby459 06-27-2011 01:24 PM

255/40-13 A6 or R6 fit perrrfectly on a 13X9....

:dunno:

falcon 06-28-2011 01:48 AM

^^ yes. 185's do not.

tom550 06-28-2011 01:59 AM

Well I'm going for more looks. That performance but still want the little performance gain.

I think I'm leaning more to 15x9 with 225 45 if I want to go crazy I'll make it a 15x10
I was going to do 13s for weight and price but I think I like how the 15s look better

I was really just asking about the back space and about the pull not so much about opinions. If this was my 240 I would try to get a 315 on the 9" and make it fit. Also do you really need more than 225 or heck thats probably robs performance from a stock miata. It's not like there's anything bad about a stretch. Just looks better to me for a street or show car.

samulis 06-30-2011 06:06 AM

Can I ride a cow? Yes sure, but...

First, R888 dont stretch, it is performace tyre that has hard sidewall.
Second, R888 are 100 treadwear, you'll wear them in that kind of street use in no time.

You know that Toyo makes 135/15 for cv2 Citroëns ? wouldnt that rock?

tom550 07-04-2011 01:25 PM

so can anyone tell me the back space?

i read 5" but idk how that fits. so can anyone tell me the back space needed to fit the 15x10 front and rear? to fit similar to these? maybe a little closer to the body. 4.7" 4.5"?

and stretching the r888 has been done. so ill give it a shot.

no need of opinions. just want info i know what im doing so your opinion isnt needed.

thank you.

falcon 07-04-2011 06:02 PM

Sorry, no asshole stretch looking homo wheels allowed.

My wheels are 13x9.5 w/ 5.5'' backspace. 5'' would be better.

I recommend Club Roadster. They like big black wiener over there, as well.

tom550 07-05-2011 01:34 PM

ok how about this.
hey im getting a 15x10 rim. im putting a 275 on them. im going for the poke look to have a little sticking out to get a wider stance for slight better handling. what should i expect for back space to get a little poking out of the body just a slight poke like maybe around 1/4"?

falcon 07-05-2011 02:22 PM

6ul

vehicular 07-05-2011 02:57 PM

Did you seriously just 180 your position because we made fun of you? That's even gayer than buying fanboi superhomo wheels with buttsexy stretched tires...

Further, the only things you can get in 275/35-15 are actual race tires. Which will last you a week of commuting.

falcon 07-05-2011 03:41 PM

And he has a stock 1.6

tom550 07-05-2011 04:43 PM

For one 35 side wall is just stupid.

And I'm trying to get some help on the back space. Some helped a little but not a straight answer.

Seriously can I just get a answer that's all I've been asking.

Who cares that I'm stock

I'm going to get 15x10 dimons rims with 225 45 15 r888. That's what I'm doing and I done care about your opinion.

Can I please get a answer.

I'm sorry but is the miata community is useless and immature? Any other forum ive ever gone to has helped and they chewed out anybody who just throws in their useless opinion constantly.

Sorry but can I just get some help. Forget I ever brought up stretching tires. Just pretend I just said I'm getting 15x10 what back space should I get.

buffon01 07-05-2011 04:51 PM

I knew this thread was full of fagg[etry]

you belong there --> Clubroadster.net (:ky:)

tom550 07-06-2011 11:35 PM

i honestly dont see how hard it is to give some help. unless all of you really dont know what your doing or anything about cars.

the only guy so far that i have some respect for is falcon because he didn't really express his opinion he mostly tried to help. thanks.

chpmnsws6 07-06-2011 11:58 PM

No one runs those on here... Especially with 185's. That is why you've not received an answer. Go to CR.net. They will be able to answer your Q with many pictures and details to boot. Plus once you get them on, they will all hump your leg when you post the pictures.

tom550 07-07-2011 12:37 AM

All I'm asking is the back space fir a 10" rim. That's it. I'm not asking how a tire will fit or if it will be better than a wider tire or narrower rim. All I'm asking is the back space. What do you guys not use back space either? That's not cool to you? Do you just get whatever and hope it fits.

buffon01 07-07-2011 01:01 AM

Because race car?

kotomile 07-07-2011 01:09 AM

Only Diamond and other manufacturers like them use "backspacing". All others use offset. That's another reason why you haven't gotten an answer yet.

My 13x8 Diamonds used a 5" backspace, as a starting point. If you understand how backspacing works you can derive your answer from that info.

I'll also say that 10"-wide wheels and 275s are way overkill for a stock 1.6, even if you were autocrossing seriously (which you obviously aren't) you wouldn't need or want that much rubber/unsprung weight with your power.

tom550 07-07-2011 10:02 AM

Thank you!
I thought it was about a 5". But even if I was just given offset I could easily just find a conversion chart and work with that.
But how do the wheels fit? Like how far in or out are they from the fender?
Yeah 275 would rob so much from a stock .6 miata.
I figured a 225 would be a good size. I just wanted to have a stretch as well.
The only thing that would rob performance is the rim being a little heavier than it it fit the tire right. It would actually stiffen the side wall for slight performance benefit.

There's a chance if I get the suspension I want that I will take it out to the local auto x

But main question now is how does the 5" sit with the fender?

Also a 8" rim with a 5" back space would be 22 offset.
A 10" rim with a 5" backspace would have a -12 offset.

So anyone with a 10" with around a -12?

falcon 07-07-2011 05:40 PM

No. Not possible without flares. The 6UL 15x9 are +36, and even with the 275's on there they are a very tight fit.

vehicular 07-08-2011 01:57 PM

It's not possible without flares unless you want to run buttsex camber. Which he does. Cause he's a homo.

Tom, backspacing and flushness are all interrelated to tire size, wheel size, resulting stretch, fender mods, alignment. There is no magic voodoo backspacing that will get a guy to give you head. I suggest going to CR and finding somebody with a gay enough setup for you, and replicating his work.

falcon 07-08-2011 02:29 PM

I do know, however... that 15x9 +0 w/ 225 R888's fit perfectly under version 1 flares.

This is where I decided to join in.

Why do you think a 35 side wall is stupid? For your information, side wall numbers actually mean a percentage of the tire's actual width...To give you proper education, I will provide an example, which can help you understand. The following is an example to help to decode a tire size like 225/45R15. The 225 is the tire width in millimeters, measured from the bottom of the bead to the bottom of the bead, the 45 is the sidewall aspect ratio, the ratio of sidewall height to tire width at the tread (indicating that the sidewall height is 45% of the tread width), and the 15 is the wheel rim diameter in inches.

Meaning...using proper math...a 275/35 tire's sidewall height is 96.25mm while a 225/45 tire's sidewall height is 101.25mm...

So you're saying a 35 sidewall is stupid, without knowing that the actual calculation for said tire's width, is a dumb statement.

(Now a 35 sidewall on a 205...you may have a proper statement there buddy)

tom550 07-08-2011 05:23 PM

Wtf? Oh no I ment a 455 35 10 was stupid.

Really? You just came, wrote a novel just to explain something you thought I didn't know. That came out of no where.

I do admit I was thinking of the size I was looking at and didn't read the earlier post correctly But I would still prefer a 45 or 40 with a 305 around that. With a tire that wide I would like to have a bit more side. But that's just me.

miatacross 07-08-2011 05:31 PM

...And this is why you don't get helped here.

Why don't you just take everyone's advice and go on Clubroadster.net and ask there?

buffon01 07-08-2011 05:36 PM

Dude go to Clubroadster.net

Ask yourself, how many members do you see here with a MaD jDmTyTeYooooo 0 oFfSeT rImZZZ yo? Then, maybe it will all make sense.
