15x9 tire help
im looking to switch to some 15x9 6uls because im looking to run a wider more sticky tire. stickies are nice and easy to find but i live in pa and it gets cold here. while id love to keep a set of tires on my rpf1s for the winter months i dont have the space to store wheels. i could use a bit of help finding something that will fit a 15x9 and work in the cold. ive looked for 225/45/15s and 225/45/50s and really havent found anything. any help would be appreciated as i really dont know anything about tires and my local tire places just straight up told me to get a normal size wheel.

That's actually probably good advice.
You don't really want wide tires in the winter where you get snow. It tends to make the car float, which is not an enjoyable sensation in a Miata. Trust me on that one. Find a set of cheap stockers and put some blizzaks on for the winter months. Keep your summer tires inside. You don't want frozen summer tires. |

Gotcha. So no snow, but you don't want to worry about freezing a good sticky set?
Personally, I keep two sets, but I have heard nothing but good things about nitto neo gens. They are a good, cheap all season. Edit: I forgot to mention, 205/50 is the widest tire they offer on a 15" wheel. |

Theres no tire thats going to be happy in the winter thats any decent in the summer. The best you can hope for is a tire that is good in the summer and doesnt get damaged by use in the winter.

Basically what I was getting at. Do you think neo gens don't fit the bill?

You're not gonna find anything. The widest winter tires i found that fit our diameter are 195s and even those were little taller.
Good year ultra grip winter. I specifically loked for winter tires though, my search doesnt include all terrains. |
I will be switching them out for rivals or some ventus rs3s as soon as it's warm out again. I just need an all season to get me through the winter cold. The neo gens look good enough and there were a few more tires that came in the same size.

I also vote neogens. The 205 would be doable on a 9, but not ideal. I run 205 neogens on my 15x8 6uls for street duty. They're a riot to slide around on.
