195 width RS3 V2 on OEM 16" or 205 width RS3 on 15x9 UL with spacers and ext studs?

I'm just looking for some grippy tires to enjoy the canyon and mountain roads, autocross, and instructed track days, but I will eventually be getting FCM coils and 15x9 ULs.

Is it a better idea to spare my wheel bearings from the extra strain from the extended wheel studs and 1/4" spacers needed if I run the 15x9 rim?

I just don't like the idea of buying a set of tires in a size that i will never use again after i make the switch to the superior 15x9 rim.

The car will be driven on track, and as I get better, work up to 10/10ths. Stock power for now.

Thanks everyone

205 rs3 on 15x9 or something else

I don't understand the question or the choice of sizes. Put a 225 on your 9" wheel and be happy.

So the extended wheel studs and 1/4" spacers are ok for the wheel bearings?

I chose 205 width on the 9 inch rim because anything wider isn't any faster until over 300whp, and right now I'm around 100whp.

You only need the extended studs and spacers if you're running the 11.75" BBK as far as I know. Stock brakes, throw the 15x9's on there and be happy.

And do 225s on the 9s if you're running RS3s. I am running 205 Federals on the 9s because cheapskate.

I thought the 15x9 hit the spring perches... I don't have coilovers or narrow struts.

you should just do research instead of making threads based on assumptions

Da fuq?

Not to mention that the RS3 doesn't exist in a 205 width 15.

I don't know if the 9's run into issues with the stock spring perches, but that does ring a bell.

Put 205's on an 8" wheel and you'll be happy. But like Concealer said, you'll have to pick something other than an RS3.

I ran 15X9 Tirerack C3Ms with 225/45 BFG Rivals last year with 100% stock NB suspension (BODY ROLLLLLLL). The right front wheel rubs on the lower control arm at full lock, easily avoidable. I never had a problem with it rubbing the shock mount. I've heard fitting a 15x9 on a NA is a little more difficult, but I've never tried it personally.

Keep in mind that when you switch to a 9" wheel, you drastically reduce your street tire (200+ tread wear) options. And I would say that when most people (on this forum at least) talk about putting a 205/50 on a 9" rim, they're probably talking about Hoosiers and they are generally in reference to NASA classing. Everyone I know that is running street tires on 9" wheels is running 225/45s, myself included.

Do more research, and go to an autocross or track day and see what the faster guys are running before you buy anything.

I will be running 205's on a 9, but ONLY because I got the tires soooo cheap.

Thumpetto, I do think that a 15X8 with a 205 Rival or Federal RSR will suit you very, very well without any worries about spacers or fitting.
