225 or 205 mm Rivals on 15x7's?
These will be for the street.
My 15x8's are for track tires. And no I won't buy another set of wheels. 225 pros: - meaty! 205 pros: - $45 cheaper edit: they're the same weight Would 225's on 15x7's corner harder? Would they feel/handle funny due to the narrow rim? Would the sidewalls look funny? Would 225's camber-wear faster? Tirerack specs say 7.5" rim is standard for 225's, - allowable range is 7-8.5". - (for 205's it's 5.5-7.5", 6.5" standard) |
205

I just received my 205 Rivals today. Going on 15 x 7's

225's would also ride softer/comfier
but I'd still get the 205's because they'll be fine, be cheaper, and be lighter |

They aren't lighter, Jason was looking at the wrong line in the Tire Rack specs. The 225s and 205s are both spec'd at 20 lbs. The price difference is also $11/tire, not $45.

$11x4 = $44, round up to $45 for the set.

No comments on differences in feel and cornering grip?
|
They'll both grip about the same, but squeezing 225s on a 7" wheel won't have as sharp of a turn-in feel as the 205.
