I don't think you'd need a lot of surface area to direct air towards the brakes since the wheels are spinning so fast. It's a good idea, however if I'm honest, the only way I'd want to get wheels that would cool my brakes would be if there for a car that is tracked and in need of cooling the brakes. Supposing that where the case I would want light wheels since it's a tracked car, and if I'm already having a problem with brake heat the last thing I would want would be more wheel weight since that would mean more centripetal force which would be harder on the brakes which I am trying to cool down in the first place. See what I mean?
Light wheels + more air on brakes + fairly economical price = something people would want for there race cars.

For some reason I have it in my head that the high pressure air in wheel wells is always something designers are trying to avoid. Fanning more air in to cool brakes seems detrimental. Fins that suck air out of wheel well + ducting from high pressure at front of car makes more bench racing sense to me.

^Agreed. Always wanted an extractor style wheel. Just need to be made in mirror of each other so they A: look the same on both sides, I'm ---- for matching B: would extract on either side of the car they were mounted C: Hell yeah I'd rock them, as long as the blades weren't shaped liked ****** or truck nuts

I would want to believe pulling air out of wheels, IE inside to the outside would be better and easier. I think of the wheel inards as a fixed volume of air more more so than the air going by it from the outside. As in the air in the wheel is traveling along with the car to an extent. Trying to funnel air in from the outside would require catching moving air going by and then trying to "suck" it in. Also in theory wouldn't extracting air through the wheel cool the brakes and help create a low pressure zone under the car ( if ducted correctly and the gods smiled on it)? But who knows. I had surgery today and am on a lot of meds.

What if you had a pyrometer on the brakes connected to a microcontroller that had PWM control over a set of solenoids (1 for each wheel) in which vented compressed CO2 onto the rotors via strategically placed nozzles.
