Had some 15x11s made

In stupid exocet offsets... so now I have wheels of the proper size that actually fit. 13.9#

0 (F) and -38 (R)

A whopping 4.4#/corner lighter then the stance bro wheels I had on before, and wider.

Holy hell...

I'm not a huge stance fan, but I really want to see these on the car. That's an astonishing weight for such a huge wheel.

They aren't stance wheels. That's just what offsets work / are needed on the exo. I'll have some pics next friday when I get the 295s mounted up

Lurch 07-29-2018 08:20 AM

How much more would 12's have been?

hector 07-29-2018 06:12 PM

The front and rear are the same weight even though they have different offsets? That's a serious question. I've been told that it would impact weight.

DontPassTheFence 07-29-2018 07:28 PM

Jesus fuck. Thats gonna look beeeeeefy

Isn't the offset is changed by machining/leaving different amounts of center material on cast/one piece wheels? That would change the weight. Maybe not so much of a factor for 2/3 piece wheels where you can choose the width of the lip/barrel etc to get the desired offset? Just speculating tho...

You can either machine the hub or mount the whole center in a different location to change offset. If the weight is the same then most likely the center was located differently in the barrell.

The centers are different thicknesses, offset by a different bevel on the front which you can see in the photo so it clears the brake calipers. The thicker center for the 0 offset front weighs .6# more then the thin center for -38 rear, which doesn't need as much space to clear the calipers. Offset is adjusted with different inner/outers and the centers are made bigger/smaller to accomodate brake caliper fitment. I actually had to send the whole set back to get refit because they put my front centers on the rear offset and the rear centers on the front offset, so none of the wheels fit, doh. Another couple weeks before I get them on the car, new inner/outers had to be spun and sent to heat treat.

These are 3 piece forged wheels. A lot of 1pc cast wheel designs do change the center material, or spoke angle as the tooling/designs will allow to accomplish some different number of offsets. No one makes anything in sizes useful for me, so a custom 3pc wheel is necessary.

Beautiful wheels! How much and can you please show a pic of the rear frame clearance?

I'll take one later. It's about 2 inches, I spec'd them to fit properly.

Dietcoke 09-13-2018 10:22 PM

bout that much.

I maintain my earlier criticism that these are stance wheels.

And I moderate it by saying that, despite this, that's a gorgeous implementation.

If you have that much power, and you don't have to worry about fender clearance, and you are making custom wheels, why did you go with 15 inch? I'd figure a taller wheel/tire combo would give even more rubber on the road, and also help with gearing.

stance wheels because of what? it's as positive offset as will fit.

I'm just giving you shit, dude. That's a seriously beautiful setup.

Gearing is a nonissue. Taller causes clearance problems as the increased diameter doesn't jive with the frame at full lock. Bigger diameter just slows the car down.

Edit: I also do run fenders. They're not installed currently as I have to rework the mount to fit the new front wheel offset.

Second edit: Here's how comical this car looks on 26" tires (10.7@137 that day)

They aren't wide enough, but they get most of the rocks. I need about 3 more inches
