Rev8

Any deets on these yet?

emilio700 02-21-2011 06:52 PM

Keep an eye on the homepage of our website. Anything we're willing to share will be posted there. Until they are finalized and in production, there will be no specifics published.

Really hard to copy something if you don't actually know what it is :)

soloracer 02-21-2011 06:58 PM

Indeed. Just saw the ad in GRM and wondered what info might be out there.

ThePass 02-21-2011 07:24 PM

So excited about these. Back in like spring 2010 when the concept of these was first uttered and they had a different name I think the projected date for them was Summer 2010, and so I put off my plans to buy dedicated/affordable track wheels for when these hit the market. It's certainly taking longer, but I understand how busy one person can get running a business, so I'm being patient. I've seen a few hot sets of cheap track wheels in various classifieds come and go but I'm still determined to give my money to 949, as long as these come about before 2012 ;)

To be clear, I'm not asking anyone to wait nor actively taking orders. I only responded to this thread to quell the inevitable bickering and rampant speculation that happened when we first announce a low cost wheel project about a year ago. As I got into development, it became clear that my original target was too low. Thus, the development period has stretched out to 18 months.

Gotpsi? 02-21-2011 08:57 PM

I see it says that you will have them in a 15x9, will they still be under $100. If so thats a sweet deal!

ecko 02-22-2011 09:23 AM

turotufas 02-22-2011 11:36 AM

So, we should expect to see them in around ~6 months?

y8s 02-24-2011 10:33 AM

Off Topic: saw a big fat 949 sticker on the side of andy hollis' car in a photo in GRM.

mazda311 03-04-2011 03:07 AM

I've had multiple attempts at subscriptions throughout my years. I tend to get 2 or 3 issues then the rest stop showing up. GRM wasn't much help as at the time the subscriptions were thru NASA membership I think. Ehh whatever. I would like the magazine however.

And getting manifolds before the summer...I'm at Jesel today and looks like I might be here for the next few fridays too...not good for manifold production but very good for my bank account.

Do you have a rig/jig or whatever you call the thing so you can make manis/dps etc without a car? I heard about it the other day- basically a mock up of the space you have to work with? If you had one you could make manis in the summer!!!! ;)

TurboTim 03-04-2011 02:16 PM

I can make mani's in the summer no problem, car not needed after placement on the first mani is verified. Car is needed to build downpipes. I attempted to make a downpipe jig once and it sorta works but not as nice as I'd want it to be, especially once you start adding EWG dumps. I don't know how BEGI or ARTech do it.

Sooooo someone with GRM and a cellphone please click a pic and post here!

blaen99 03-08-2011 02:57 AM

Wait, Rev8 seriously doesn't come with a 4x100 15x8 or 15x9?

Boner killer :(

Faeflora's got a sawzall so just get the DP within a half foot and he'll mod the rest and get it to fit!

No crap. I was looking for a cheap spare set.

TurboTim 03-08-2011 07:56 AM

I'd read that ad as it comes in 15x7, 8 & 9, and all of the widths are available in all those bolt circles. That's also what his site implies. Emilio knows betta. Right? Then again I did preorder 17x9 black 6ulr's in 5x100 and got grey ones cause that's all he made in 5x100 and wasn't told until a few weeks before shipment. :dunno: But thanks for the scan newold!

It's not an ugly wheel but not as pretty as the 6ul. I personally don't dig machined lips at the moment. And I like the "dish" to the 15x9 6ul, I hope the 9" wide Rev8 has a similar dish.

Definitely a nice wheel for the price!

^^^^
This.

I think you guys are reading that as rows like a spreadsheet. I believe that the implication is as Tim said. At the very least it likely implies all those sizes and all those bolt circles in various combos. I think the biggest reason these were created were to compete with the TR wheel for the Miata.
Not as attractive as I'd hoped, but what do you want at that price point? Function over form.

Faeflora 03-08-2011 10:02 AM

Paging Mr. 949?

Correct. Further details will be available when the wheel is released.

turotufas 03-08-2011 11:39 AM

I wonder how much these will weigh.

Pitlab77 03-10-2011 06:54 PM

glad I didnt wait... I'll just have to get a 2nd set of 6ul's at some point.

kotomile 03-10-2011 09:57 PM

I read it the wrong way too.. call me stupid but I imagine a lot of people will. I've attached what is (IMHO) a better version.

Boost_addict 03-27-2011 02:19 AM

So nobody noticed the 15x10 6ul on that add???

TNTUBA 03-27-2011 11:40 AM

^^^^ I did....and I SOOOOOO hope that's true....I have been looking for a 15x10 wheel. I already have the 15x9's but with the 275's I REALLY need the 10's.

Gotpsi? 03-27-2011 12:00 PM

I would love to run 275 Hoosiers but dont want to budget 1K a month for tires.

TNTUBA 03-27-2011 12:20 PM

I only run the 275's for AutoX So it's not as bad as a grand a month.

curly 03-27-2011 12:54 PM

This was his reason for not making them previously I believe, not enough interest. 9's are fine for 225s, and not many wanted to spend the money on 275s. I'm wondering what changed, either in manufacturing cost or demand.

That or he just needed to make some for himself, and decided to spread a little love.

I think a lot more people would go for 275's if it didnt cost another $2000 for nice resonably light wheels that fit them as well.

Bob

Golferluke 05-27-2011 06:36 AM

I'm pretty excited about the 15x10's, I have no need for 10s but hopefully some 9" 6uls will start popping up for sale. I have been dieing to hear about the xtr/rev8s for a long time but now that I see them I'm not wild about the machined lip.

blaen99 05-21-2012 09:32 PM

Massive thread necro.

Has anyone heard anything on these Rev8s? I've been sitting on rim/tire money for about a year now for them. :(

18psi 05-21-2012 09:37 PM

Only 6 more years to go
Hold your breath

Faeflora 05-21-2012 10:09 PM

according to grassroots motorsports maagzine they

were released last novmember you fukkin dumbass

TorqueZombie 05-22-2012 03:54 AM

Still can't find where to send my monies. If production model is still black/machined lip they will be purchased. I need street wheels by the end of summer. The ones that came with mine at purchase are almost the ugliest things I've ever seen. 6UL for track and Rev8 for street. When can I buy?

18psi 05-22-2012 08:09 AM

Just paypal me money, I got you dawg

TorqueZombie 05-22-2012 11:55 PM

If you have Rev8's in 15x9, black and shiny lip I will!:x:

I've had them on the daily for a while now. What do you gays want to know?

emilio700 10-23-2013 01:20 PM

Things changed here. The fewer projects I take on, the better we do. We still have plans for a low cost wheel, just moved down the "to do" list in priority. Right now we're working on gen 4 6UL's for 2014. I believe everyone will be pleased by the improvements over the gen 3.

Tekel 10-23-2013 01:45 PM

:bigtu:

vehicular 10-23-2013 01:54 PM

Any hints?

scenturion 10-23-2013 03:24 PM

Maybe you should outsource Rev8's to Stance Magic. I hear they're pretty good.

TorqueZombie 10-23-2013 05:38 PM

StanceMagic REW8's number one new wheel dawg. Make you mad tyte wid da herra frush. Now I'll just wait for Gen4 6UL. I won't be cool unless I can wait outside in the cold for the launch all night like an iphone party. What is the camping space like outside 949 headquarters?
