Get back over to m.net...now. There is a guy on CR/M-S with 17" RPF1s..on a Titanium...and the wheels aren't gold...but you can get an idea of the style. I think what you have in mind will be fine...just dont get 205/40 or 205/45 tires....215/40 or 225/35 tires will be better. |
15s ftw

Tell me this isn't perfect - go on, say it.

You're not running the Sport Brakes are you? AFAIK, they won't fit under 15" RPF-1's. I have those wheels on my SE-R and will be running the Sport Brakes on my Miata.

C It looks like the diameter of the '99 front brakes are 10" and the sport brakes are 10.6" (.3" larger radius). I took a pic, easily over 1/2 an inch to spare on the front wheel. I guess it depends on the caliper but it certainly seems possible that they would fit. http://i272.photobucket.com/albums/j...a/100_1278.jpg |
One of these days when I get off my ass and install my sport brakes, I'll see if my RPF-1's fit, though I've seen multiple posts saying they don't.

Looks like it might be a width issue with the calipers rather than a diameter issue. Just a guess based on the picture.

No, I've just got the stock '99 brakes. The wheels don't seem close to the brakes at all though.

Also, I know ILoveOffRamps has a set of 15" RPF1s that he uses for DD duty on his '04 MSM.
|
Hah! He's running a spacer.

I've driven that car several times, and I've helped him change the tires more than a time or two.
I knew he had the spacers, but thought he ran them to get the wheel to sit more flush with the fenders. I know when we tried my RPF1s from my CRX they hit the caliper both on the front and rear, but my RPF1s were also +41mm. I thought his were +35mm's and didn't need the spacers to clear. I guess I could call him. :) |

If he's going for the "looks like your car costs about 2000$ to buy, max" look, they do very well. Much like those new Tirerack knockoffs. |
Okay,
So I saw ILoveOffRamps this weekend. He is running 15mm spacers, but said that you could get away with trimming the calipers. Also found out that the 10AEs did not come with sport brakes. :( As mine look tiny compared to ILOR's brakes on his MSM. |
