Dying to get rid of my steel wheels! I stumbled across these wheels on DTD. Price seems too good to be true, wanted to see if anyone had these or had an opinion on these:

Konig Helium 15x6.5 40mm (11.8 lbs)

$358 shipped.

I know the width isn't ideal, but these would be solely for street driving.

It's a good price for an unremarkable wheel.

You can get decent (not too heavy) wheels in 15x7 / 15x8 for $90 to $100, ex shipping.

I had my eyes on the 6UL Spec wheels as well, but they trade some weight for width.

On an NA? Probably.

If you want the Heliums, buy the Heliums. All I'm saying is that if they're not exactly what you want, don't get all caught up in thinking you found some unicorn of a deal and compromise wheel selection based on the emotional desire not to pass up a killer offer.

Anything that's a Spec Miata wheel has to meet a weight minimum (13.5# IIRC) and will be 2-3 pounds overweight for a 15x7.

I used to run Feathers on the Silver car. Similar to the Helium, but without multiple bolt patterns. They are light for a cast wheel. They did end up with some slight bends after several thousand miles, but still functional.

My $0.02 . . . these days I'd get a flow-formed rim for the weight and durability. Something like the Dial-In or Helix. You won't notice the extra $20-30 per wheel you paid 6 months down the road, but you'll continue to appreciate the weight and strength advantage.

Yeah, that's what I figured. I'd love a set of nice set of cast wheels, but I'm pumping most of my disposable income into the turbo components.

One thing I forgot to mention is that Discount Tire will often run smokin' sales (like Memorial Day, July 4th, etc.) that will let you pick up some Konig's super-cheap and without shipping. So, if you can hold off a bit . . . .

I'm guessing they mean that it looks anodized, rather than it actually is anodized. Confusing, though.

One of my knockabout spare sets is Helium in 15x6.5. I bought them from a neighbor kid after he ran over a hooker in his Civic when a drug deal went bad. One was bent badly and one slightly but still balanced easily enough. They had been spray painted black. I bought one replacement from GoodWin. Light, round, and holds air, and handles 205's. WTF else do you need to know if you are that broke?
