Ugly aftermarket to 6ULs
Hello everyone,
My miata currently has awful aftermarket wheels from MB motoring that weigh a whopping 20+ pounds each! Im thinking of going to 6ULs sometime hopefully in the near future, and I was wondering how my car's handling/acceleration will improve. Will it be noticeable on the the street or just in events like autocross? |
Buy them and see for yourself.
I picked up 20 horse on the 8s, 25whp on the 9s.

The transformation will stun you. Don't put it off. As it is, you're beating the heck out of your poor car (as well as yourself).
is your car stock? FI you could tell a difference because the tires will break loose earlier.
Worth every penny....
It will be noticeable everywhere.
You will notice the difference backing out of your driveway.,, seriously, when you roll over the little 1" lip where the concrete curb meets the asphalt, you'll be able to tell the difference.
^^^ Truth.

This winter, I convinced my friend to be a man and buy 15x9 instead of 15x8 like he originally wanted. He thanked me afterwards. THAT alone makes a huge difference.
Also he sent me this text about a week ago: I put my oem wheels on the miata today, and now I remember how I used to dd this car. It changes everything. |
I can't believe the responses in this thread. I was just thinking about this as my 16" motegi's are like 20lbs. I was thinking about going 15x9 nickel 6UL's with 225/45/15's. Looks like I will definately be doing more serious thinking towards this route.
Thanks for your input everyone, I was originally going to put 15x7 6ULs on but now I'll have to put some thought into the wider wheels
Just FYI if you're on a budget, tirerack wheels come in 15x9 for $109 per wheel
http://www.tirerack.com/wheels/Wheel...All&sort=Brand And when looking at wheel weights keep in mind that, for example, 225/45/15 RS3s weigh 22lb. |
Get 15x8 if ur gonna stay Naturally aspirated or even if u go turbo but dont compete. It will leave u with more money in ur pocket with just as much of an improvement. My car is still stock but i have 15x8 6uls with 205 Dunlop Z1s all around worn almost to the thread. That said, i can take a turn pedal to the metal in second gear and only occasionally have to correct slight oversteer. Its a great investment and i simply love the way they make my car look when wrapped in some nice tires.

Is there a disadvantage running 225/45s on 15x7s instead of 15x8s?
Does a dirty bear take a hot shit on your chest?

If your tire is too wide for the rim then it could bulge and the extra grip you thought you would be getting will be less grippy than your 205s. |
