Holy shit. There are other people that repair their own flats?!?! I've done dozens myself. No problems. I too keep a patch kit and compressor in my trunk.

use a t plug and you're good to go.

It's within the "no-go" zone: within one inch of the sidewall.

No shop would even consider plugging it; that's a lawsuit waiting to happen. And with most plugs, it's nearly impossible to make them stick properly to the constantly changing shape of the tread-to-sidewall area. If you dismount the tire, check for rubber crumbs. If it has any, the tire is junk. Well, actually, it is junk since it's not safe to repair.

I plug/patch tires for a living (tech at Goodyear).

Well seeing as he already plugged it, I'd say it was doable since he hasn't reported back besides that it was working. I worked at goodyear back in the day, and although I wouldn't do it for a customer, I sure as hell would do it for my own tire. It's more than fine.

Lol. I used to do that too and I know exactly where you're coming from. With that said, those "rules" that shops make are just to cover their ass. The tire is definitely not junk.

Hasn't leaked yet.

We need "I track with plugs" bumper stickers for the TXMC crew.

Cool.
A nail in 3 week old RS3s in the exact same spot.

I'm going to track on this bitch.
