Default 225/50/15 instead of 225/45/15 on 15x9

Lately Ive been considering upgrading my wheel/tire combo. I definitively want 6uls 9s, but is been a turn off to see the few tires in 225/45 that are available for the wheel. In the other hand there is a vast selection of 225/50 tires and starting at ~$50 - which is ******* awesome!!

Ive been looking around for pictures of cars with 225/50, and personally I dont think is that bad, considering the ~$250 savings. Comments??

I'm with Sav... I don't think 225/50's are usable on a lowered NA, though it may depend on what brand, as different manufacturers tires will vary in any given marked size.

you guys are f'kin funny! anyways, i ran 225/50/15 bfg r1's and they just fit.
i had my car at 12.25 ride all around BUT, (and this is a BIG BUT) i had them on 15x7 wheels w/40mm offset. i doubt you'll have good results fitting them on 9'' wheels with a 36mm offset unless you buy some small univ. flares or something.

here's a pic of them on the car: by the looks of it, i might have been at 12.5" height at vir though. (where i'm at in these pics)

here's some 225/50/15 hankooks on 15x7 35mm offset. they rubbed in the rear on hard corners though.

here's some from texas world speedway on the bfg r1's, i think i was at 12.25" in these pics

They wouldnt fit on the front here:

that's as far as you could turn with the tire rubbing but the front bumper and the rear wall of the inner fender.

fits on the rear fine:

I think 225/50 looks like ***. And unless you plan to track your car you have no need for 9" wheels.
