Brake Parts - 1.8L
I am looking for "slightly used" 1.8L pads and rotors.
As I work tirelessly (reading forum) at my internship, I am realizing that my summer finances are not as good as planned. I pay my own tuition, so I save up during the summer, and am not on track this year. I already have brackets and calipers, but in the time I have rounded up these parts my 1.6L brakes have gone to absolute crap...and there is no sense replacing them when I have the upgrade parts ready. I know this is ridiculous, but I just can't swing the stainless lines, HPS pads, new NAPA rotors and all that I was originally planning on. I may already have a line on OEM pads, but would pay a little for something more aggressive that could be trued and has some life in it. I can also machine rotors if someone local has some they took off for an upgrade. Thanks, -Damon |
If you need a second set of front and rear 1.8 calipers and brackets I can sell them.

I have a set of rear rotors, 9 7/8" dia. They are in good shape with a little surface rust that will clean up real easy. PM if you are interested.

Shipping would be a bit high due to weight, but I have a set of 1.8 rotors that are yours if you pay shipping. I'm GUESSING $20 but can get a firm quote when I weigh them at work if you are interested. I don't recall condition. I have a couple of sets from partouts.

kjr50 came through with the pads
Stein came through with rear rotors. I am still looking for front rotors if anybody has them. Thanks. |

Can't imagine it'd be worth trying to clean them up, but if you want 'em I can drop them in a flat rate box; yours for shipping + insurance. Considering fronts do most of your stopping, it might be worth it to get a good pair from NAPA for $50. Sell a pint or two of blood if you have to. |

Yeah, I talked it over with the wife...she said the same thing.
Will buy some nice new front disks that will last through a set of pads or two. Thanks for the help (and advice) guys. I went from a $300 brake job to a very affordable $85 for serviceable breaks. This will include caliper rebuild kits. I was mainly trying to round up as much hardware as possible since I have been turning rotors and rebuilding calipers for a decade and never had any problems. It's kind of cheesy...but when you've got more expensive things higher on the priority list you have to cut corners sometimes. I am prepared to run straight to NAPA and buy new parts if I can't turn the rotors within specs, or the pads don't run true. If I wasn't prepared to do so I wouldn't have considered this an option. I only state this for newbs reading that think they should try to run used brake hardware on a turbocharged sports car. If you don't have experience (shop experience) rebuilding brake systems don't imagine for a second you can get away with this. Thanks again guys. Will let you know how it goes. |
