Default 8 or 9in 6uls or C3m's

Have a set of 8' 6uls and am looking to get a 2nd to mount some autox only tires.

Just trying to see what is out there.

Hustler hates the C3M because of craptastic build quality.

I also did not realize this was in the WTB section and not the tires/wheel section.

Are new C3M's in 15x9 not in stock? At the price point of $104 a rim it is hard to beat buying them new.

Next time you see one, measure the spokes at the bell. On the 3 wheels I've test-fit on my car to borrow (would never buy as I'm 949 Kool-Aids drinker) some spokes hit the caliper, some didn't...on the same wheel. Besides, the look like **** too.

I like giving money to the company that actually did all the fitment R&D on 9" wheels, so I buy 6ULs.

If I see this statement made one more time I am going to cry.

figuring out an offset is not rocket science...and can barely be called R&D. If all the retardo's that are into "FITMENT" can figure out what will fit and what wont with simple mockups than so can someone with an engineering background.

Oh and FYI... I own C3M's.

I'm not going to get in a long argument.

1. Hustler: The ones I have seen on my friends car are problem free. But I will double check the measurements just for you.

2 Really? still on that argument. BTW I do own 6uls.

3. shuiend: Bought a house in Dec, trying to save a bit as $ has been going there. Have missed a few 6ul/c3m 225/45/15 rs3 packages over the last 2~3 months. Price point is great new but just wanted to see if anyone was unloading. AKA trying to justify it to the MIsses. I'm in no rush as an offer to co-drive has been given to me.

BTW this is a WANT TO BUY thread. I'm am all to aware of the issues and views of both these wheels.

It's one thing to copy the offset and width of a wheel and make a copy. It's quite another to plagarize the entire fitment guide from that wheel manufactuer's webpage, which contains detailed fitment info for multiple cars and tires, and include it with every wheel you sell. Ever wonder why Emilio's multi-page fitment guide isn't available on his website anymore?

6UL FAQS & FITMENT INFO

I don't support companies that copy the work of others and pass it off as their own, and I don't think it's "cool" or "hip" to laugh about it.

But they didn't. Notice how the 15x9 fitment isn't listed for the 01-05 Miatas with optional Sport Brakes? That's because TR never did any engineering whatsoever. The wheels hits the banjo bolts. Doh!

TR copied my entire copyrighted FAQ, duplicated the offset by simply issuing a PO to some factory and started selling wheels. TR is a billion dollar company. They spend more on toilet paper every year than I generate in sales. Thus, I am in no place to take them to court. I'd get slaughtered.

So without me doing the R&D, taking the risk on tooling then doing the work to convince an entire worldwide community that the 9" works, you would not own any affordable 9" wheels that fit under stock fenders.

Arguing that "they would have figured it out anyway" is retarded.

Arguing that "competition is great for the consumer" in the context of IP theft, is also retarded.

FWIW, this is not the only IP that TR has lifted from our website but that's another story.

If you really have a case I am sure you could find one of those big shot "idealist" lawyers who would take that case at no cost and just take their fees out of the judgement. Even if they took most of the judgement you would atleast stick it to TR.

I know that is all a huge hassle but it is just a thought.

Emilo, I wasn't aware of the actual fitment statements being made on their site and I agree that stealing IP is wrong.

While I respect your work and LOVE the 6UL's I still don't agree with the statement that "well 949 figured it out so everyone else is the bad guy" statement. You simply optimized a design and documented your results. It sucks someone stole that documentation.

The reality is that, assuming no fitment statements were made (and it sucks that there were), they are simply providing a similar product for a lower price point. The big guys suck, trust me I know. My company gets screwed by the big guys over and over...Hell some of our biggest competitors are now buying out some of our OEM suppliers. Now WE are forced to buy parts from our competitors to build our machines. Try that one on for size.

They have a different business model... and don't have the same attention to the customer that you have. There are many in the miata community that will buy on that alone.

The miata community just has this god complex sometimes that ONLY small companies like 949, trackspeed, and FM are the ONLY option. The world would be lost without competition. While you guys are a wealth of knowledge your word IS NOT always law. Too often I see experienced members / auth. vendors on this forum make strong statements as "you need this, you dont need that" as if they are the final say in what is what. 99.999% they are right, but it is still frustrating and members should realize that there is ALWAYS more than one way to skin a cat.

That's all I have to say. I will stop jacking this WTB thread. Good luck with this WTB thread. Weigh out the pros/cons and make your own decision OP.

But this is not the point. The point is, TR is selling a product, and advertising fitment for said product, without having done any actual testing of said fitment.

It is one thing to see someone do something, and say "hey, I can do that too", and make your own version of that something. That is life - competitors emulate winning products. It is a completely different situation to see someone do something, copy that something using different methods, processes, and tolerances, and then use the original company's fitment information to sell the product. Guess what? It isn't accurate.

That is why I will ******* never buy a wheel from Tire Rack. I buy tires from them when I can't buy them cheaper from competitors, or when they have a lockout, as with the BFG Rival. But wheels? Never. How can I trust their fitment guide? For any vehicle? It is not with the PITA factor for a wheel that doesn't fit for me to consider buying wheels from them.

Pit - I have a set of 8" +36 Gen 1 Nickel 6UL's with 205/50 BFG Rivals mounted and balanced. I have been considering moving that set of wheels/tires to 9". You interested? How soon do you need them? I will be using them this coming weekend. PM me.

"You need to be less of a faggette online".

It may be legal to copy 949's work, but that company can tongue my sigmoid and I'm not going to send them any money. Besides, those TR wheels are ugly and inferior in every way.

I agree that stealing is totally OK (as long as there's no stealing involved).

I won't speak for Keith/Emilio, but you have a seriously false interpretation of how I expect my statements on this forum to be interpreted. I've spent thousands of hours testing, learning, and tweaking on Miatas. You consider this to be a hobby, as do the vast majority of people on this forum, but I live it every single day. I've literally made it my business to know what parts work, what parts don't, and how to tweak and tune these cars to enable people like you to take 99.99% of the headache out of YOUR hobby. When I share my knowledge, I do NOT expect my words to be taken as gospel or as being the "only way" of doing something, but what you need to understand is that I speak from a position of experience that few members here can rival.

In short, I know my **** because I've made it my business to know my ****. If you want to figure it out on your own, you're MORE than welcome to do so - maybe you'll even teach me something - but don't get butthurt when the experienced, niche vendors of this forum share their experiences with the community.

Not my statement, maybe someone else's. My point is simply that there are some unethical people working at TR that stole my IP and the company is profiting from it. Do with that what you will.

I still buy tires from them, perhaps not wheels. I find it a bit ironic that while they plagiarized the combined results of several years of my work on fitment data, they still don't have a clue what fits what when you call them. I'm guessing that's because their sales staff doesn't refer to the FAQ they swiped. It's also kinda funny that you can't search their site by wheel size, offset or PCD. They are too afraid of getting sued if a customer make a bad choice on wheel fitment and gets hurt. So the 15x9 we figured out is a "competition only" fitment with a bunch of legal disclaimers on TR's site. IOW, "We're not sure how they fit but apparently they do sorta"

But yeah, they'll save you money. Just like Walmart.
