Still a good deal though, i hope I find one for that price when it comes time to upgrade.
|
upgrade? if you are putting down any power 1st gear is already useless with the 5speed so why go to the even shorter geared 6?
|
You can easily fix the gearing with a 3.63 final drive, or if you really want, a 3.3 final

Even verse a 3.30 diff and 6 speed, 1st through 5th gear are taller with a 5 speed and 3.90.

Roadsters arent supposed to have long wide gears like a fatass musclecar anyways :P~ (well unless you put the engine from that fatass musclecar into your Miata)
6-Speed gear ratios: (for anyone that is interested) 1st - 3.76:1 2nd - 2.27:1 3rd - 1.65:1 4th - 1.26:1 5th - 1.00:1 6th - 0.84:1 Final drive: 4.10 |
I'm willing to trade my MSM 6-speed (which has stronger gears than a regular Miata 6-speed) if you have a low-mileage 5-speed to offer in return. But I don't have another car to use so you'd have to drive here to NJ to do the swap. :)

HAHA! Where in NJ? You're in Indiana so does it really matter where in NJ? The state isn't that big.
it says Springfield under his avatar. He'll be in Point Pleasant today. Hopefully he'll be leaving in a Squirted MSM. |

I am on the edge of parting out my turbo setup, but it would only be worth it for the tranny I have if you came to Ohio to pick it up. I have a beautiful 04 mazdaspeed miata 6 speed sitting in my garage currently.

I can send it up in a UPS truck, you swap, and send back. Ben |

So, you're willing to sell it?

The worst part is, i would have to drive something besides the miata. I dont think i can fit the tranny in the trunk.
|
you can fit 2 Miata trans in on the passenger side if you remove the seat. i've delivered 2 like that.
and you can fit one in the trunk, i picked up one in my miata once. (i think) |

Ideally, I wish I had someone in the area that could help me install all my stuff. I keep not having time to do it all myself, and I have so much to put on. I wanted to have it all done by now to enjoy this summer, but that hasn't happened. I have an 01 head an manifold, 04 6-speed transmission, RX-7 clutch pack differential, Innovate Wideband 02 sensor and controller, 3.90 gearing, (wish I had 3.63), Bully Stage III clutch, Fidanza 8lb. Flywheel, Garret .63 trim T3 turbo, and probably a bunch of other stuff I am forgetting. I have never used a MS before, or done a turbo setup on my own, and am kinda scared now having so many parts and no one to help. Ya, I do all the work on my car, and know general stuff, but I really wish I had someone to help me put all my stuff on that knew what they were doing, that way I didn't make any small mistakes that cost me everything. I don't know what to do anymore. I hate to see it go, but I hate to mess up putting it on by myself. :ugh:
|
Well man, i am interested in the 6 speed as well as the rx7 differential. Let me know. You could always start with the basics and take it one step at a time. Just get a basic stock motor turbo setup going and then add on stuff later.
|
Alright, I will keep you posted.
