WTB 6spd adapter plate/6spd Starter

As the title says... Looking for a 6 speed adapter plate and a 6 speed starter.

I could kick myself in the ass because I just parted out a blown up 1.8 w/ accessories in November and literally had everything I need sitting around in my garage. Now I decide I want to go with the 6spd and I don't have the parts! Live & learn I guess

I use the 5 speed plate and starter with the 6 speed on my car. Only issue is only two of the three starter bolts line up. My six speed has been in the car for years without any issues. I have known many others as well that have done the same thing.

but the 6speed starter is lighter!

I'd love to use the 6 speed plate and starter, but will probably just live with 3lbs extra weight and use the 5 speed stuff

Pretty sure all NB starters and transmission plates are the same regardless of 5 speed or 6 speed. May want to look into that before going down the rabbit hole looking for 6 speed parts.

I believe I have heard that as well but I'm not 100% sure on that

I thought it was the NB starter that was the lightest, regardless of gearbox.

I'm not really concerned about weight lol... I just want all the bolts to line up without modifying anything and I didn't want to have the starter only using 2 bolts... I dont know maybe I'm over-thinking it all

psyber_0ptix 01-23-2014 04:09 PM

anyone have part numbers for the NB plates? maybe I'll just order it new and see if it matches up to the 6 speed once and for all

I was under the impression all NB 1.8 block plates and starters were interchangeable. Am I missing something here?

I dont think you are missing anything. I guess I should have researched more to know that all NB starters/ adapter plates were interchangeable...

I still have a 1.6 so the 6spd is being paired with that.

Gotcha. It was more me questioning what I thought I understood because that's not a surprise I need when I go to install my 6. Sorry for the confusion :inout:

Confirming that all 99-05 starters and block plates are the same (5sp/6sp).
