Wtb Cas

WTB a CAS for my MSII build...please lmk what you have. Thanks!

Contact AbeFM. He's running an MSII on the stock NB sensors. You'll actually get more accurate triggering with the NB crankwheel than with an NA-style CAS, because the crankwheel is not subject to the flexation of the timing belt.

I have a spare escort gt one (im using one for mine and it has almost the same exact signal as the miata cas) if ya need it. I'd just want like 10 bucks to cover shipping and shit.

This is a tough subject for some reason. Abe run's circuits for a standalone MSII and is apparently succesful at having a well running car now. Pat and Arga are running in parallel and the car's run well but they deal with losing sync once in a while so things aren't perfect. I'm not doing either of those options because currently the CAS works fine for my liking. I'm very interested in using the crank sensor but for the time being the CAS is simple.

I haven't had any trouble since I started trigging off the right edge of the crank pulse. That was back in January. I literally haven't had a miss or a stumble since then and I daily drive it.

I prefer Abe's input circuits because they're modeled after the stock ECU. Pat and I rely on the stock ECU to do the pull up to 5v. Works great for parallel but won't work in stand-alone.

...but if Mike's going to offer a CAS for $10 I'd say just go with that.

hey can i have it? assuming i pay for the shipping obv, and a fee for it if you like.
ive been having issues with my custom bracket on my NB CAS.
please let me know i actually really need one and i dont wanna go to the junk just to pull one,

cjernigan Apr 25, 2008 01:22 AM

That's good new Arga, now that you have that going on it makes me want to get into it so that I can scrap my CAS and the wiring that comes with it.

99NBMIA already got a CAS I believe, just for reference in this thread

Mines not properly placed, speaking of which heres the problem im having, no matter where i adjust it, my scan tool tells me the ignition timing is either at 2*BTDC or 26*BTDC, alldata tells me it should be between 6-18 *BTDC
any ideas? now that we're here talking about it, i ask because im on the stock ECU and i couldn't find anything about with by searching the forum

i just wanna use the NA CPS and squirt the bitch in prep for future turbo, and at least i think i could work out some kinks, and get the car running well enough to make possible trouble shooting in the future slightly more narrowed down, if that makes any sense . . (this tooth is fucking KILLING me :vash: )

cjernigan Apr 25, 2008 02:37 AM

Is your bracket deflecting when the engine torques sideways? The engine rocking might be upsetting it. How are you adjusting the bracket, side to side up and down with an oversized hole or what? Why not just install the '99 valve cover and be done with it?

TeamPLUR Apr 25, 2008 02:42 AM

oh dude, i fail at the interents, i thought this was in off topic, i didnt realize you actually needed the CAS i didnt mean to pirate you in the middle of your post. . .
Apologies.
-Alberto.

Start a new thread, i'll move our posts.

TeamPLUR Apr 25, 2008 02:48 AM

oh and i HAD the 99 valve cover . . until i cut it . . .XD
the bracket its pretty solid, i dont think it moves with torque, it has trouble idling as well, as for adjustablility, i just kinda bend it to my will (have to remove it and put in in a vice)
it cant move much in the hole, its pretty similar size to the bolt, it cant really slide but it can rotate. also its slightly offset towards the exhaust cam, so that i can rotate it and it stays pretty aligned with the circumference of the cam gear

edit: oops
2nd edit: new thread in general miata . .

cjernigan Apr 25, 2008 02:56 AM

Guess I'm not grown up enough to Mod the WTB section so it turns out I can't move anything around here. Someone will do it tomorrow though.

TeamPLUR Apr 25, 2008 03:05 AM

I'll just copy paste it, thanks tho jerni

Did this ever make it to another thread? Have you checked that it's in the right spot? The cam pulse is expected to be between two teeth on the crank... Easy to check with a 'scope, pretty easy to check by eye, the tolerances aren't very tight.
