1.8 came with torsen, if you want a 2way clutch type that fits, start looking for 2nd gen rx7s around you.

I’ve been looking but they almost don’t exist anymore.

This. Most arent cheap anymore either and are usually sold as a whole diff. The rx7 forums or facebook groups is your best bet, that community favored T2s and the later torsen design.

I had a minty fresh unit that USPS lost last december in KS haven't found a good snag on one since myself

No opinions on kaaz or gaiken. Never had one and havent felt the need. Miata torsen is the easy button.

off topic that i haven seen anyone mention, if you use an RX7 diff carrier you have to add more fluid than with the miata unit. Iirc its almost a whole quart extra.

Almost all of them are fine, but if you want to increase pretension to account for clutch disk wear, the beer can mod exists, search GRM for that.

I'm also keeping an eye out for an FC clutch pack LSD but they do not carpet the earth. I think based on reading old threads in here, and based on my use purpose, I would chase a tomei centre. Good-win sells them, and I think one of those would be my move. Under a grand, which is substantially less than the 1600 or so for an OSG.

Why not leave the clutch types for someone who is then?
Do you like the rears to lock up under braking?
Torsen seems the obvious choice for someone who isn't drifting/ likes understeering into corners.

they don’t do well with lighter weight (caterham 7) applications. This looking for the disc based diff.
