WTB: Coolant reroute
 

Looking to buy a complete coolant reroute kit, preferably the BEGi kit. Let me know what you have!

I didn't mine withwith with a spare coolant neck a freeze plug and a Escalade radiator hose... this makes the rear I'll go down the hot side... but even with my turbo there is ample rooM.I.A... it's much much cheaper than the Begi way.... I have a clinical sell you for 20 bucks if you want to go that route

I actually bought the M-Tuned water manifold and remote thermostat and used the truck hose with that....wish I would have done the option above...

^ Yup ... I'm not sure why people post WTB ads for specialty items like this. How many people are A) doing a reroute B) saying "hmmm, I think I'll pull this off the car".

Have fun getting a reroute spacer from BEGI.

My friend had his paid for and ordered for months. We eventually cancelled. This is why it's better to have a live inventory system on your website like 949. You shouldn't be able to order if they're out of stock and they're not going to be made/delivered any time soon.

I haz a DIY reroute spacer I never used and the waterneck that came with it. I'll try to get pics on Monday. I'm traveling today. $80 plus shipping for both pieces.

Yeah, but my list includes the BEGI spacer. I didn't have any problem with BEGI when I ordered a year and a half ago, but Curly's recent experience causes some concern. Better make sure it's in stock first.

Not that this is my thread but I was very curious on the availability on the spacer myself. I wrote begi and here is the response. It was fast response so I am just relaying the message.

We do have them in stock, yes. If they aren’t they are within a couple of days availability. They sometime require a thread fix, but they always ship within 2-3 days. If it does not ship immediately, then the customer has ordered something else that we are waiting on.

lol, sorry for my barley readable post. I was using my phone with the swipe text feature and it has a mind of its own. I should proofread more.
But what i was trying to tell you there are a couple ways to do it under $50

1. Remove the neck from the front of the block and plug the whole with a freeze plug (you can also leave the neck and make a block off plate to replace the thermostat housing, this is easier but it kinda looks stupid)

2. with that done now you need to move the thermostat and housing to the rear. This will have the neck point to the driver side. now you can use a long hose like one from a navigator to run down the hot side and to the radiator. (there is ample room if your not using a factory air box but it can still be done with one also)

3. this leaves one problem to solve.
by placing the coolant neck on the back of the head you removed the sorce of water for the heater core.
there are a few ways to plum this none of with are hard or exspensive

1.there is a extra port on the back of the miata head you can press fit a 90 deg barb into to plum from that (like it is done with the bp head on the escort gt)

2. if using a 1.6 coolant neck on the back the housing is allready tapped for a sensor that is not needed here so you can easly use fittings from home depot and put a barb on the housing

3. tap and drill the 1.8 neck for a barb

4. use a inline fitting from the hose you just made

all very simple and only need a few fittings, a hose a few clamps and a freeze plug.

but if your not into doing all the dirty work and fabrication and making things work on the cheap you can spend big bucks on a "kit"

But for me the fabrication is half the fun

Things that spacer will need to work properly:
That spacer will need a ridge machined into it for the thermostat, it will also need to be drilled and tapped for the heater core feed line.

The coolant neck hole will need to be plugged before install.

Or instead of doing all that stupid shit you just use the $19 BMW thermostat like it was intended, lol.

Thanks for the offer but I'm looking into something that's more tried and true as I can't really risk having my car out of commission longer than it needs to to figure stuff out should I run into problems. Now if this was just my track toy, I wouldn't be afraid of doing a true DIY.

How does clearance work if the water neck is "thicker" than the Kia one and the Kia one is already butt up against the firewall?

It isn't. That's what I already have on the car and there is at least an inch, maybe more.
