WTB Driveshaft to Diff Bolts (1.8 LSD)
Another Torsen Swap, and I am missing bolts.
Hardware store bolts have large head bolts, and do not work. CL is dry and Dealer wants $5+ apiece, order process, weeks, taxes, shipping etc. Dont know any folks around these parts, and its holding me up 14mm Head, M10 x 1.25 x 25mm PN# P012-25-123 https://cimg6.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.mia...095533cc45.jpg Preferably in good condition, 2-4 Bolts Shipped to 98225 Bellingham, WA the cheapest way possible, USPS Paypal Ready Thanks Sources: http://www.jimellismazdaparts.com/sh...category=20236 |
most of the larger ace hardware stores have narrow head flanged bolts in 10.9.
|
I use 3/8-16-1" grade 8 bolts and lock washers. They fit perfectly. The driveshaft centers on the yolk not the bolts so its not a big deal. They are like 4 dollars total for all of that at my local hardware store. They sell grade8 by the bulk for like 88 cents a lb.

im pretty sure that I have these message me if you still need them.

Did a wonderful job responding and helping in a professional fashion. I received the proper parts without being offered inferior options, which I feel are inappropriate. Thank you |

Lolol. Inferior? The flange is centered on the yolk. Buy some high quality bolts from the hardware store and don't get ripped off. Pretty simple solution actually.

I was not ripped off, $15 for a nice set of OEM hardware shipped is a fair deal. And if I misplace a piece, the replacement is known. Become a Mazda Speed member and it is even cheaper. Perhaps the large amounts of failures are from shoddy workmanship and overconfidence in doing so. The only thing I'm laughing at is ignorance and your shit contribution. Later |

Yes they are inferior, The heads are non-standard (Metric) and require another tool in the bag. They also leave the shaft free to have rotational slop.

Later Other than the inconvenience of an SAE bolt head, there isnt much wrong with what aidan did. Which is bull shit in this case because a 3/8" bolt has a 9/16" head, which approximates 14mm. Beyond that, youve shown your ignorance of how a bolted joint works. I expect you to do "well" here. |
Then get a metric bolt. Just giving you the size I use. 15 dollars for
|
Wait you paid $15 dollars for the piece from Rosenthal? The driveshaft bolt kit?

I hope you realize that is a single bolt...not all 4. |

He won't be back. He's too butthurt about paying $60 for a set of bolts.

JIC somebody searches and finds this post... These are usually available as a set on ebay for 10-30 bucks shipped.
|
I don't get the problem. He paid $15 for a set of hardware. That's nuts, yes. (see what I did there?) But it is also pretty typical M.net thinking/behavior.
Why get all offended when someone pays stupid money for something? |

That, too is typical. They think anything not OEM is half-assed.
Wine and cheesers, my friend. |
I think OP is a douche canoe, but Aidan I too would never install hardware store bolts onto a driveshaft. I know it's silly, but my OCD would not allow me to do that, ever, for any reason. The only time I ever used hardware store bolts was on catback exhaust flanges
|
I have no issue with that. If he said that. But spouting bullshit and saying my shit sucks is different than admitting you have a problem and then cleaning your car some more.
I'm the opposite, the engineer cheapass in me will never let me spend more money for something that is functionally equivalent.
ALSO, in the OP he claims that hardware store bolts do not work because of the size of the head, not that they are inferior. I was pointing out that they DO in fact work, and he blew up. |
my driveshaft fell off once.
/true story. |
