As the title states, I am in need of a new short block that is of the non-SNC variety.

Preferably a blown motor as it will be torn down anyway.

Why not just rebuild what you already have in front of you then? 1 of the ones we have sitting here reached 232k miles before developing rod knock so I'm a bit perplexed about all the silly negativity towards stock 1990 engines. They work just fine if you properly torque everything during rebuild time IMHO.

The only reason I want to swap blocks is because I'd like to eventually rev this motor higher and use a crank dampener. Since all the crank dampeners are for lnc/bnc/BP motors, that kinda leaves me stuck.

For a motor was that built in 1996, it's still amazing. No crank issues.
