WTB Miata

Been lurking here for a while and really like what you guys have done to your Miata's. I am looking to buy a Miata this spring.

Ideally, I am looking for a 94-97 NA doesn't matter if it has a turbo or not as long as price reflects condition/options. In some ways it would be nice to buy a car with a turbo already installed, and in others it would be nice to build on the way I want it. Most important feature I am looking for is no rust!

I am located in the north east, but will travel for a car with no rust. Let me know if you are in the market to sell, or know someone who is..

ArtieParty 03-05-2010 10:41 AM

There's a guy in the local club that's selling his. Info is as follows:

Here's the info on the car:

1994
5spd, white with black interior, PKG A
1.8L engine
Tune-up, including new timing belt, water pump and camshaft and crankshaft seals @ 106k miles.
Everything works, it runs GREAT, the AC Blows cold, Just passed inspection (september 2011 is the new sticker)
top is in great condition, interior is great, everything is great. Clutch is good, brakes are good, tires are good, etc. etc. Shocks/Springs are also fresh.
Currently has 116k miles.
The car NEEDS NOTHING.
It has a Salvage branded title.

Hmm. Oh yea a plus if it has a torsen diff.

Maybe you guys can help me out with this too, is it really worth finding a car with a torsen diff?

ArtieParty 03-05-2010 10:47 AM

Definitely helps for a turbo car if you have a Torsen. That white one I posted is an A package. Means that it had power mirrors and a torsen.

vw_nut 03-05-2010 10:59 AM

I didn't think the "A" packages had torsens, but I am no expert.

ArtieParty 03-05-2010 11:16 AM

I'm pretty sure all A packages had torsens.

Missed a good 1997 Montego Blue one for $2900 this weekend.. Damn.. Keep em coming guys...

vw_nut 03-16-2010 12:53 PM

Still looking seeing a lot of overpriced cars, a few good deals, but someone else beat me to them..:vash:

vw_nut 03-24-2010 09:16 AM

Still keeping my eyes peeled for one (o)(o)

manata7a 03-24-2010 09:39 AM

how much you willing to spend?

vw_nut 03-24-2010 09:52 AM

Depends on the car really. Stock cars say 3K-4K(the white car above would fit the bill nicely it's just the salveage title kills resale value and I don't want to dump a ton of $$ into a vehicle with a salvage title.). Well thought out turbo cars more. Depends on the car really. I know what it costs to asseble one and it might work well if I can find someone that wants to move on to another project..

manata7a 03-24-2010 09:54 AM

i have a 2000...LS...5spd with 40,000 miles on it?

vw_nut 03-24-2010 09:55 AM

Probably too new (and too much $$) for what I want to do. Really hoping to find a NA, too.

manata7a 03-24-2010 11:09 AM

n/p just figured i would throw it out there...

vw_nut 03-30-2010 02:45 PM

vw_nut 04-06-2010 08:30 AM

Talking with a few poeple, but still looking..

Preluding 04-06-2010 10:41 AM

I bought my 97 for 2800 last fall near where you live.

Keep lookin, you'll find something

vw_nut 04-06-2010 10:44 AM

Wow, good price!

I realize I am buying at the wrong time of year. Was you car driven year round? I don't want a year round car from here. Too much salt & rust. I missed a white 94 base model for $2500 that was stored winters. I jus couldn't get out there when there was daylight and it sold by the weekend.

Preluding 04-06-2010 10:50 AM

ya... mine had 132k miles on it and was driven year round...
put all new metal in it immediately after buying it...
and now I just changed the motor (but not because it was bad)

Needless to say...I have a lot more then 10k in it right now

vw_nut 04-08-2010 08:17 PM

Still looking.

scottieboy5612 04-12-2010 11:19 PM

I have a completely stock Stock 91 White Na. Im in indiana though
complete tune up new plugs wires coolant flush all fluids just changed. brand new tires.
145k miles daily driven. may be able to include a few goodies as well.

im in indiana though. Pm me if ur interested.

Minor minor rust starting on the fender wheel wells but no rot or heavy rust under the car. Nothing that cant be saved by any means.

vw_nut 04-13-2010 07:44 AM

I am really holding out for something without rust. Thanks for dropping me a line though...

vw_nut 04-20-2010 10:03 PM

Still looking... Was going to try and work something out with flipt86, but it looks like he already has a deposit. Good ones sell fast. Still looking. Let me know if you hear of anything for sale.

In the meantime, I can do lots of reading so I know what I am getting myself into..:giggle:

vw_nut 04-25-2010 10:25 PM

still looking..

vw_nut 04-29-2010 04:51 PM

Still looking. There is a cheap 944 turbo locally. Please don't make me buy it. I know the porsche will make me poor in the long run...:vash:

vw_nut 05-07-2010 10:57 AM

Still looking. 944T had way too many things on the "needs" list.

vw_nut 05-18-2010 03:14 PM

Still searching.

vw_nut 05-26-2010 09:23 AM

Still keeping my eyes open. Looked at a few stock cars locally, but unfortunately spring convertible prices are here & the cars weren't worth putting a turbo on.

vw_nut 06-02-2010 04:05 PM

still looking.

miatacross 06-02-2010 04:37 PM

Just for references, I payed $3k for my base model 1990 with 82k miles on it from the first owner...without rust. I considered it a great find for a good price. That white one on page one is worth its asking price.

vw_nut 06-02-2010 05:47 PM

Thanks for the info Miatacross. Would love to find NA8 without rust in that price range. The only thing that kept me away was the salvage title. Without being local to inspect the car, it makes it very difficult. I don't want to drive 8+ hours and get there and realize I am not happy with body work done to repair the car. Otherwise, it would be here in Maine already...
