WTB radiator for an auto

I am looking to buy a radiator from an automatic miata....

olderguy Oct 28, 2009 08:44 AM

Why?

Stein Oct 28, 2009 09:06 AM

I have one. $50, + $20 shipping.

They are all metal, thicker, higher capacity than regular thing plastic topped units. While not as good as a new all aluminum unit, they offer and improvement in cooling over stock.

The owner of PR Motorsports explained to me once why this is false. IIRC the auto rad has more capacity but so much of it is not used by the coolant that it's actually worse than the manual rad.

Using it for and endurance race ...I prefer an all metal unit

kotomile Oct 28, 2009 09:29 PM

Okie dokie. As long as it's metal...

Then why don't you just get any of the proven, all-aluminum cheap radiators that everyone else where uses.

Cooling capacity doesn't matter to the OP, only the material. :jerkit:

It's for a our lemons car. I damaged the one we had in the car...it worked great ...thanks for te concern though

Stein Oct 28, 2009 11:45 PM

Paypal info sent. Seeing as it's for a lemons, you need anything else minor? I might be able to throw it in with the rad if I have it.

Stein Oct 29, 2009 12:34 AM

Hey, this guy is OK. He has the SR-71 Blackbird Lemons Miata.

kotomile Oct 29, 2009 06:57 AM

Pics of said Miata?

I guess the capacity doesn't matter so much since it's not going on a high-strung track whore car like Sav's or Hustler's.

Stein Oct 30, 2009 11:37 AM

Payment received. Will ship Monday.

You didn't get the one from Stein?

talonaj24 Nov 4, 2009 10:50 AM

Turned out he didn't have what I was looking for

He paid me promptly and I got it together to ship but for some reason, mine has plastic top and bottom tanks. I didn't know that there even was such a thing but it is an auto unit with the fittings in the bottom tank. I pulled it from an auto car myself. The tanks are very black, not the normal green or brown, so I guess that it might be a fairly new aftermarket unit. I let him know and told him that I would refund the money if it wasn't what he wanted. He did want an all metal for durability so I refunded his money the same day.

In any case, if anyone has an all metal unit, he is good buyer/fast payments.

My spec miata had an auto radiator.
