Trying to shield the transmission tunnel from the exhaust's heat in my AC-less Miata.

I want to see what you all have before I fork out for the new stuff.

TIA

Reflectix is what i used under my carpet.

Got a roll of it from Home Depot.

Does that work as well as keeping the heat away from the metal in the first place?

Edit - It's worth mentioning that I'm "going to be in there anyway" when it comes to the underside of the trans tunnel. Begi has been nice enough to send me a replacement for my original ill-fitting Greddy downpipe, so if I'm going to put some insulation under there, now's the time.

+1 I'd like to know as well my leg is tired of sweating.....My third leg that is!! :)

I wouldn't put it under the car, it'll probably end up getting melty. But having it between carpet and trans tunnel did wonders for me. No more melty foot.

matt, you want to stop radiation and conduction/convection to the tunnel.

radiation is stopped best by mirror finish gold or silver foil.

conduction is stopped by things with low thermal conductivity like ceramics or fiberglass or nomex.

dont trust adhesive. unless BEGi's stuff works well over time. then use that.

I posted this way back- but competition products still has tons of heat oriented coverings/shieldings in their clearance section for cheap.

And here's the adhesive stuff:
