1984 RX-7 Race Car with BP! (almost a Miata)
#362
Well just an update! We are opening up our new shop next month! Quitting my day job end of this month to do this full time! Already have some plans for the car. The radiator is moving to the back with the pump and all. Put the car on the scales and way too nose heavy! Everything outside the wheelbase will be changed to aluminum as the car is about 200lbs. heavier than planned! Stay tuned for pictures to come!

Why would I flame???
I was working on redoing the entire suspension to double a-arms. Anyways, one thing led to another and I am going to build a tube-chassis and transfer everything over. It is going to be much easier than trying to work around what is left of the stock frame. Oh and I am going mid-engine. Already picked up a G96 transaxle (996 Porsche). Will have some exciting updates soon!

Well it appears the RX-7 body will not work with the mid-engine as the proportions will be off. So this is now going a different direction. I have been talking to the folks over at Factory Five and looks like I am going to use the body from the GTM Gen 2 on my chassis! Of course I will modify it for racing use!
I have attached a teaser of the suspension!

I would do a rotary car if it wasn't the cooling issues and the noise. The only local track is set at 94DB and tracks down south (which are the ones we usually visit in WA and OR) are I believe 102 or 104DB. So basically the local track, if you have a rotary you need like 3 mufflers. Good luck fitting that in a mid-engine chassis without having a rats nest of mufflers in the back!

As it was mentioned earlier, I did start my own company over a year ago. I have listed some of the services here: https://www.miataturbo.net/laman-des...ervices-90665/
Hoping to do some more work on the car soon. Working on finishing a prototype of a dry-sump oil pan by the end of this year!

It would be great once they start holding Club races there. The $35k membership is too rich for my blood! It would be great to get some real race cars on that track too instead of super cars...
Noticed they had a video of them running around the track in R-Factor on their site. I wonder if the track could be downloaded and "played"
