Default 99mx5 EFR build

I'm finally adding a turbo to my car. I bought a supercharger when I used to autocross. I then started to race on a track. Everything was great until I blew up the blower. I removed it then continued to race naturally aspirated. I eventually became a better driver without the boost, so now its time to add boost again.

So far I have added:

-Enhanced DIYPNP
-Precision intercooler
-ACT clutch and street disc
-TEIN Flex coilovers
-PWR radiator
-SS clutch, brake lines
-Carbotech XP10 and XP8 brakes
-Boss frog rollbar
-Custom CAI airbox
-DIY coolant reroute upper and lower
-PS delete with welded input shaft
-Ultrashield Rally Sport seats
-Simpson camlock harnesses
-Squaretop manifold
-COPS
-Walbro 255HP
-Other smaller details that I forgot

I contacted Abe at ARTech for SS coolant and oil lines, a top mount ramhorn manifold, SS DP and exhaust with Magnaflow resonator and muffler. I purchased a BorgWarner EFR 6258 and sent it off to him.

Here are the pics of his progress...

In on this, was wondering if you were making build thread. Can't wait to see it in person and possibly replicate it. Man that manifold is sexy.

No target yet, just hoping to not pop the stock engine until its built.

I'm thinking on getting forged rods and pistons and replacing the stockers before it needs to be rebuilt. I also see a six-speed in my future.

From what I've read it will be tough to not blow a stock motor, especially with that turbo and manifold.

Very sweet. Those EFR's are so long! I will be interested to see how you run the intake and intercooler piping.

Sweet manifold Abe! It'll be interesting to see some spool data with that efr and a long runner manifold. Whittyworks was at atmospheric at like 1900 rpm with his logish style mani. Keep up the good work!

I just ordered the intercooler piping kit. I will have the charge pipes welded.

Here is my DIY coolant reroute and lower reroute. I used a broken aluminum race jack for the parts. I posted this in the DIY section, but I'll link the pics here for completeness.

The upper reroute uses the moss spacer, a Kia thermostat cover and a GMC truck water hose.

Upper coolant reroute at beck of engine.

Upper reroute hose.

Water pump intake.

Elbow for coolant radiator to intake with heater hose nipple.

Front block off plate.

Assembled lower coolant reroute. This make more space for the turbo.

Lower reroute installed on front of engine.

I like that reroute way better than what i did. Sucks you're going to have to remove the rad hose to change the belt tho..

I think the solution to that is to ditch the AC.
