Who has an NRG slim hub. How does the clockspring go through?

I need to move my wheel farther away from me.

Awesome. I'll shoot you a text sometime. I was afraid it won't work well with the clock spring. But there are way less pictures of the hub online than I thought there would be.

Found a mythical hx-27 for sale. Might pick it up, but it has a huge amount of radial play. It's similarly sized to a 2860rs. What do those max out at on our motors?

Also picked up my last spindle I need for the abs swap.

I have the NRG short hub, but am not using it, precisely because of the problem with the clockspring. The edge actually pushes on the CS and kind of locks it in place. Hard to describe exactly what's happening. You could cut down the edge- it doesn't seem to serve any purpose except aesthetics- and then it should work well, even with the CS. I just have been too lazy to actuall try and put it on a lathe and start cutting.

Did more maths. HX27 is too small. HX30 is still what I want.

The only miata build documented with an HX30 has him making 18psi at 3800rpm. No VVT. 9cm Trubine housing

The turbo flows more(ish?) than a 6758, and loves high pressure ratios, so it should also be able to push a ton of power.

Yeah...that's more like a 1000hp turbo.

But if you can get a sweet deal on a new hx30 I might have to give you some business

I have the slim hub. Works fine. I had to trim the plastic around the steering wheel a little though. But I think mine were screwed up to begin with because it was rubbing on the stock wheel.

Good to hear. stefan is sending me his that he isn't using when he gets back.

Did more thinking lately, and have been considering something besides a 1.8 swap. FE3 sounds cool, and Ben has already done one. Junkyard kia block, big turbo, fun.

Transmission would probably also be a T5, but with one of the bellhousings that match an FE3 instead of the Miata bellhousing. Only issue then is clutch, which kinda sucks.

Other hand is I would like to keep track reliability. And doing my own motor swap is not how I go around doing that. Only so much groundbreaking work I can do I'd rather build a cookie cutter BP and throw lots of boost at it.

Also been looking at T5 shifter options, and this looks ****:

Another t45 Tbird in progress... - Page 2 - TCCoA Forums

Replace the freeze plug with an aluminum bushing and oil seal, with a shaft extension out the back.

Now everyone from SADFab just needs to get a T5 so we can work on this

Yep, thats what turbotim did. But I like the extension a lot more. Mo baller = mo better.

Your post is what actually got me thinking about engine swaps. MZR is going to be awesome.
