I just take a 1/8" or 1/4" steal plate and drill 2 holes in it that line up with the bolt holes that the stock tow hook spot, then weld on a hanger off to the side. When I get back from vacation I will take a quick picture of one.
I use
cat on my setups. They are slightly cheaper on eBay then from Amazon.

i really don't like the looks of that jack stand to the right of the wd-40 can. scares me even if it's just holding up the part for picture taking purposes. it'd be less sketchy if you put a 2x12 or two under the jackstand, then the part could ride in the saddle of the jack stand a little better.

Its just holding the end of the exhaust. Which would dangle maybe 6 inches further down. 20lbs maybe. Fun fact. Thats actually a wire brush on top of the jackstand, because the jackstand wasn't tall enough.

Nice. Good price. This will literally be on the car once every 2 years.
Axle back welded. Ran my second bottle out of argon. Guess the 2 welds up front wont be backpurged. :(

If you seriously want to get good at it then it's got to be clean. If its balled up and coated in stainless then it changes the way you direct heat to the part and it contaminates the weld. Learning how to control the heat in shitty conditions is great if you want to produce consistent ****. You'll be tackling a new challenge if you want them to look good though. controlling the puddle will be different. You can do this. Take your time.

I clean it if it *****. I get lazy if I bump the tungsten with the filler or something and its just coated. When backpurging I could not get it to look good, but when welding the v-bands with thicker material it was a lot better.
I got good penetration though. That's for sure.
