I dig the heat shield! I've got a pretty sizable pile of license plates sitting around... could be fun.

Oil cooler is plumed and running. Just went and tuned for a while. Oil never went above 200. I might need something to cover the cooler when it gets cold.

Did some more EBC tuning. Also logged some 0-100 pulls.

0-60: 5.5ish
0-100: 13.2ish

Played with launch control. Retarded timing after launch, going to try upping the boost target at launch but right now it kind of hooks, chirps and then goes.

I don't have one yet, it's a little ways down the road for me, but I'm excited to learn when I do get there!

Nope. No such thing as an MS3E. I'm running an MS3+MS3x. Sean is running just an MS3.

Might be a silly question. But how do I know if I have enough oil after installing an oil cooler. I was always taught to check oil cold after its all drained into the pan. But I need more than what would normally be in there right? So do I check it while its running?

correct

never do this on any engine. with oil being slung all over the place you will get crazy readings.

let the engine idle for 30 seconds, kill it and immediately check it. everything will be as close to their dynamic states as possible without the engine running. at least thats how id do it.

Alright I'll give that a shot. I basically followed FM's directions. But used a bit more oil because they use a smaller cooler than I do.

having thought about it, once you know its filled up the right level, you can get a reading once all the oil has drained back, and just keep mental note of that mark as the "cold" level.

One advantage to mounting the cooler with the fittings facing upwards rather than sideways is that the oil won't drain out of it when you shut the pump off. Note that the FM bracket mounts the cooler that way (it's also mounted pretty much at the same level as the oil pan anyway).
