I think being a Canadian I have an easier time importing parts than an American would. Sometimes get away with up to $500 in parts, declaring everything, at the tunnel. Other times I get pulled in for $200 worth of parts and have to just pay the taxes on them.

Also, just a heads up, anytime you cross with a radar detector they will likely confiscate it if they see it. Depending on the mood of the officer of course.
Now you understand why i really didn't want to come over there to pick up that 6 speed. lol We're all criminals over here and always get hassled no matter what.

Matt even had some parts shipped to my house, it was over $100 and when it go to my door i had to give the UPS guy $40 more for customs or some ****. Shipping to or from Canada sucks.

Thats why you only uses USPS when shipping internationally from america, and Canada post when shipping from canada.

It's not so much an issue of shipping as it is an issue of communication. Well, at least that's what I found to be the case when I purchased parts through Bryan. Six months passed before my fairly basic order, consisting of AN fittings and hoses, was satisfactorily filled. He wouldn't answer his phone or return calls, and text messages were replied to at about a 3:1 ratio.

As far as I know, he wasn't making any money off of me, just offering me parts at cost. For that, I am appreciative, however it's not much of a favor if I'm left, for 6 months, wondering where my parts are, or if I'll have to reorder the parts elsewhere to prevent delays in my build, or if I should be attempting legal action.

USPS and CanadaPost are your friends for cross-border shipping. Tracking sucks, but you don't get raped at the door.

I've gotten pretty good at it. Almost every time I cross I have parts with me, either going to the states to ship/drop off or coming back with a bunch. Of course they are always for my car Also, classic car parts cannot be charged duty since they are exempt. I conveniently have a 1981 Mazda RX7 racecar I'm building with some friends, not sure why it takes so many parts that conveniently fit a '91 Miata though lol

Ugh this is why I just hate shipping altogether. It costs so much money. Then add the PP fees and there is no way to sell something at a good price and still come out with any decent amount of money.

I've heard nothing from Dem or Fab9Tuning for a week now.

Does anyone have Fab9Tuning's physical address ?

Just send me the parts and refund partially the cracked S4 manifold (or fully and get this I'll actually send the S4 manifold back to you within 5 days of money being transferred). It's just that easy. If you want to correspond send an email so I can keep records.

I feel like I'm in a store and I've given the guy the money and he's standing there looking at me but doesn't know what to do

Maybe he wants you to call and talk to him on the phone and tell him the same thing. Because until then, he has no idea if you actually want the parts you paid him for 6 months ago?

... or.... something?

Bryan,
I hope you had a great Christmas and New Years.

It's a new year and we can make amends and start fresh.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Hi,
My name is Andrew and I sent you some money for some parts and I was wondering when you might be able to ship them?

Wow.

Just read the bulk of this whilst sat waiting for a flight - your attention to detail and wide spread skill set is inspiring to see.

You've implemented a few things that I want to do myself so it's nice to see that they can be done.

You mention removing the PAS pump and making a pulley up for the AC - do you have any photos/info on how you did this? I'm going to do similar on my built motor this winter and would be interested to see a working setup.

Keep up the good work!

Thanks - I've been meaning to update the thread but things have been extremely - I'll work up an update here in a few.
