Hours of research later, still no for sure idea what this is. I think it came from/was destined for diesel farm equipment. I'm pretty sure the compressor is a 50 trim t3, still confused on the turbine...
So garrett makes a t3 60 trim easy available, I thought that's what this was. The inducer is too small though. A 60 trim is 46mm and this one measures 42mm, 50 trim. Guessing because I can't measure so hot without removing the cover, it's locked on hard with torx bolts. Can't be larger than the inlet diameter though, right?
It has a 50/64mm 11 blade turbine wheel, looks to be 451314-0001 from this page here.
Turbine Wheels - Garrett Racing Applications - TurboMaster
That's bigger than what I have now, so I don't think my china turbine housing is gonna fit. It's 46mm exducer with the same 64mm inducer. Bummer, no chance I'll adapt an external gate to my 1.6 junk.
Brain preferred the china turbo to the super 60 IIRC, from this plot here. What I gather is this is a comparison of a 50 trim comp and turbine vs a 60 trim comp and turbine, just a slightly larger turbo all around.
china turbo 60/42mm comp, 46/64mm turbine. My Garrett is 60/42mm comp, and 50/64mm turbine.
So I've found half a genuine china turbo, I guess. That's kinda cool, I don't think garrett 50 trim t3s pop up much. I am assuming all the garrett t3's use the same turbine, or at least nothing ever smaller than 62 trim and I'm guessing that's the 62 trim wheel I have.
Comparing to the china turbo I expect somewhat slower spool with free-er flowing top end, maybe I won't have to taper boost? I could be alright with that, especially while swapping to a 1.8. I'll probably have to switch to external wastegate, or buy one of those super 60 5 bolt turbine housings. If they'll fit. Just have to hope that the top end is currently choking from the smaller turbine, not the tiny compressor...
TL;DR
Can anyone confirm my guess that a garrett super 60 T3 uses 50/64mm turbine wheel? My google-fu is failing...

So I have massive huge 3271 sized turbine, in a little .48AR single scroll housing. Not too bad, kinda something like what I was wanting to upgrade to down the road.
The compressor is teeny tiny though, it's a 45 trim t3 wheel. No good for going faster, way off the efficiency map. This is really a diesel turbo. Probably still be mad fun for the street though...
I think I want to upgrade it to a T04B S trim, so 70/48mm compressor wheel in a .6A/R housing. If I do math right, that should put me right near the surge line spooling 12 psi at 3500 rpm yet still be small enough to fall into peak efficiency island at 7200 rpm/14psi or so. I'll be capping the map at 24 psi, so room to grow, maybe. Not sure how much the larger turbine I've got will muck with stuff, but it's like a "stage 2" turbine wheel. I'm using a stage 3 turbine wheel comp map, far as I can tell. Not sure how much of a difference it makes, I hope it shifts the efficiency islands to the left as that will make me happy. Makes sense to me, SWAG I guess?
COMPRESSOR MAPS
I can get the compressor wheel, backing plate, and housing on good ol' ebay for around $170 or so. I might be able to upgrade to a 360 degree bearing since I'm sure this don't have one. Don't know what it costs to send a chra out to balance, but it can't be that bad right? I can also buy pretty shiny "billet" ****, too, like this, if I want to spend more dollars. This has less fins than the standard t04b, this one looks like a 7mm smaller t04e. I bet it would kick ***.
Billet Turbo Compressor Wheel Garrett T04B 409179 0018 Trim 48 48 3 70mm 6 6 | eBay
Does this sound like a halfway decent upgrade to what I've got now? On a rod only 1.8 build while trying to not grenade too many 6 speeds...

Nah, I'll probably just make an external gate mani with this 1.8 flange you are sending me. No sense going to a bigger turbo on stock rods.
I might talk to Lars and see if he has another use for the 1.8 exhaust mani I was gonna buy from him, go straight to semi-tubular I'm thinking.

Alright, I'm finally done. Here's what I'll be buying. I want the compressor off a T04B32. Here's a breakdown of all the parts...
Garrett Model TO4B32 Repair List - 409940-0001 reference - Turbos - TurboMaster
Compressor cover, from a John Deere lol
Allied Signal 408274 0026 Compressor Housing | eBay
Backing plate, T04B. I want next largest to T3 60mm, that's T04B 70mm as far as I can tell. T04E, too big.
New Garrett T04B High Quality turbocharger Back Plate Seal Plate Nice Part | eBay
Compressor wheel, smallest one I can find. No compressor maps available. If less trim keeps shifting the surge line as it does between S, V, and H trim I think I'll be in excellent shape.
Billet Turbo Compressor Wheel Garrett T04B 409179 0026 Trim 39 43 7 70 6 6 | eBay
I can also upgrade to a water cooled CHRA, too. Not sure it's worth it.
T3 T4 Wet Garrett Type Turbo Center Bearing Housing Finest Performance Parts | eBay
Think I'm finally starting to understand this T frame mix and match stuff...

Dead miata, someone tried turning left across a 4 lane road while traffic in the right lane was stopped. Too bad I was in the left lane doing the speed limit...
I've finally got a settlement offer from insurance, they were far more proud of my car than I ever was. After buying this back, I should have enough left to buy a nice 01+ 6 speed NB maybe even with a hardtop.
I need a single 15x8 konig flatout if anyone has a spare, mine is showing stress fractures in a few spokes and they don't sell the things any longer. Could also use a nice sport NB, within 750 miles or so of Kansas city
Oh, also did this to the jeep!
I saved a few pieces of his transfer case output and the driveshaft splines as souvenirs lol

I think the car might be straight enough to fix, **** is pretty twisted up under the hood though. I am mainly worried about the upper shock mount, the front half of the box is collapsed a bit.
I should buy a HF tube bender and make a ghettocet. Then I can have a ridiculous car, and a nice comfy NB. I will of course turbo the NB as well, can't have slow miata.
2001 Mazda Miata
I want that one, pretty sure it's already sold though. Whatever Sean linked to already sold and deleted, gotta be quick...

Think I bought a car, found it on a midwest auction site among many combines and tractors. Will see how it goes.
2002 6 speed, a factory strut bar means sport package right? I hope it has billies.
Still not 100% sure what I'm gonna do with what's left. It's a $300 turbo miata now. Wonder if I can get it fixed for $200 in control arms and tie rods, then bring it to lemons. Think I have three local guys interested...

The owner says he bought it in cali two years ago, then he drove it a bit and parked it. Can't say I blame him, it's central Nebraska. Supposedly runs and drives, with 4 good tires. 155k
The guy sounds honest enough, I'm sure it'll be fine.
The junk you find on the local Kansas craigslist is abysmal. Nearest thing I found was a 99 5 speed with 170k and rusty everything for $4200. He didn't seem too upset when I told him he's off a few thousand dollars. Had a 180K 94 with a hardtop and "minimal" rocker rust for $4 as well.
Bring your miata to Kansas to sell it, or at least let me do it for you lol
Tell Sean the labels printed fine for me, too.
